any recommendations on a monitor to get ? Higher refresh rate ?
I’m playing at 1080p which is fine beautiful etc but I know that when I play a higher resolution my games just look extra epic. I want this beauty ! But I don’t think the monitor I have is up to it. Refresh can be very low if I make the size bigger.
I think I need a fast monitor which can handle higher ?
I have upgraded recently to a RTX 3060 12GB.
It’s handling everything just amazing right now. Going from a gtx 1070 which kept crashing on me, I now get no crashes and gaming life is sweet. But I would love to get an even smoother beautiful image.
Suggestions ?

Hey there,

So, in your case, I'd prob suggest staying with 1080p and go with 144hz. This is within the capabilities of the 3060 12gb. It's okay at 1440p.

You will max most games at 1080p, 1440p not so much.

What are the rest of your PC specs.

In terms of monitors, I'd recommend my own one. This is it here: AOC 24G2U 1080p FHD 144hz Freesync Premium (G-Sync Certified)

It's a really nicely designed with a cable management cut out to help with cables. It also has an up/down 4 port USB hub built in. It's not the most fancy thing, but is very capable and very cheap at the moment.

If you don't plan to upgrade your GPU further, then the 1080p IPS panel is fine. If you want a better GPU down the line, you may need to upgrade your monitor too.

hey! Thanks for your response.
Ok makes sense. Well I have only just invested in this RTX 3060 which I am v happy with for now.

so a. Monitor at 1080p with a 144hz would be best? I just know when I have made it native, ( I think ) the refresh rate goes to like 30? So the game seems much slower/ low frame rate, but looks incredible.
So I guess yeah like you say 1080p, which is fine for me. But at 144hz

what other specs would you like?
It has 16gb ram
Ryzen 5600 x

Do you have a budget?

It is best if you can actually see a candidate in person.
A good monitor is a long term investment. Bust your budget if need be to get a good one.
I would suggest a large(40") 4k monitor.
Such an image is stunning.
You can always reduce the resolution if need be.

So, you've a decent CPU to go with the new GPU. Perfect combo for 1080p High/Ultra settings in most games, and with high FPS.

Stick with what you have, and get a nice 1080p 144z monitor like theone I've syggested. There are some other monitors as good as the one I have, but I found the value of what you get with it being worth it.. It's very smooth with G-sync, so no stuttering.
