I'm new to building my own desktop PC and I am having trouble figuring out what is compatible and what is not. Just wondering if someone knows what parts I should buy for the budget and quality I request.

Approximate Purchase Date: this month (May)

Budget Range: $1300-1500 (after rebates & discounts and taxes + shipping costs)

System Usage from Most to Least Important: GAMING

Parts Not Required: none

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg.com

Country: USA

Parts Preferences: intel i7 processor (3rd generation preferred), LCD monitor, Nvidia Geforce graphics, lots of fans, 18-24 gb RAM, full tower case

Overclocking: Preferred, but not if it affects the price ; Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe

Monitor Resolution: any

Additional Comments: make it look cool :D

MY MAIN CONCERN IS COMPATIBILITY; LINKS WOULD BE GREAT, THANKS!

the case will handle no problem. if your getting the combo from newegg i thought the 3770k was sold out so you might be getting the locked one. in that case stock fan will be fine. Also your right about the 32 16 thing. If you dont spend the extra 30 bucks on windows 7 PRO, you can only run 16GB anyways.

believe me for the server i'm gonna run, it's a safe bet of 5 players for every 512MB or ram so that there is no server lag and it can be modded, and I'm gonna have over a 150-250 and running 24/7. realisticly there will only be 130-170 players on (13-17 gb) but during things like wars (Minecraft server) it would get over 200 (20-25 gb).

How would you have 24GB of RAM?
2x8=16
4x8=32
Correct me if I'm wrong but can't you not have 3 sticks of RAM and have it still run "fast"?

Use ^^^^This build but downfgrade the ram to your most recent post and change video card to

AMD Radeon 7850
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161406
-$240

This will get you back under budget(BARELY) and be a good trade off for ram to video card.
