In the Cathedral I've dropped the Cylix in the chute of the confessions room
just below the altar and been betrayed. Successfully made a run for it but
now I'm wondering why that Objective hasn't been ticked off? What have I
done worng?

And where's his BLACKJACK!!!???

This mission does NOT work properly unless you have ver. 1.18 of T2 or have
it patched up to that level. The first objective not ticking off usually
indicates that your game is not patched so I'd check that out before you go
any farther. Once you patch it, you'll have to start over as a patched game
will not recognize saves from an unpatched game.

Trust me, you do NOT want to blackjack guards in this and you'll find out
why later on. You'll get your equipment when you go to meet Mercedes but you
should take your time, explore the city and collect as much equipment,
items, etc as possible before that point as it gets much harder to do this
afterwards.

On Normal, if you know your way around the city well enough, you can go to
Mercedes room and pick up the blackjack before you go to the Cathedral and
still have time to drop of the Cylix but I don't advise it because if you
blackjack too many people or even if you happen to pick one of twor guards
that are necessary for what happens later, the mission will fail, seemingly
without cause. It has something to do with how Purah set up the actions that
happen after you meet up with Mercedes. This is a very difficult mission but
really beautiful to explore so get ready to save lots and sneak most places.

But it's patched already...

Intriguing...I'm tempted to re-start. The 'time-trial' element of completing
the drop-off before 11pm made me rush off to the Cathedral ASAP.

I have heard of instances where the game said it was patched but the patch
hadn't installed properly. It's possible that is the case with you but I'm
not sure how to fix it and if there would be any guarantee that it would
work afterwards. I doubt if it's worth the work of totally reinstalling
Thief 2 and Darkloader to see if that would correct it, though you may run
across other missions that won't work properly, either as there are several
that are known to have problems with ver. 1.07 particularly with objectives
not ticking off. Slyfoxx's new mission has an objective that won't complete,
for instance, without the patch.

You're intended to have to rush off to the Cathedral before the time limit
is up but after that, you have unlimited time to explore the city before
deciding when to go off and meet Mercedes. THEN the fun really starts! 🙂
There are a few guards that you really cannot blackjack or the game will
just fail at the point just after you meet Mercedes but I can't tell you
which guards in particular. I find it easier to just leave them alone rather
than play so far into the mission only to have to restart.

When? You'll meet her when you go pick up your equipment, including your
blackjack. When you do that is up to you (but take heed of what's been said
before about going there early and about the blackjack). Where is she?
Sigh, I have the route pretty well imprinted in my mind, but I don't think I
can describe it clearly enough. It's your room at the inn, where you went
at the end of the previous mission. It's on the other side of the town,
near the police station and a river. I'm sure Nightwalker can help you out
better here, if you have trouble finding Mercedes.

Aargh! The Undead! The HORDES of Undead!

Too many. I hate the Undead. Hate them. It's putting me off more than a
little...I hope the 'skip mission' cheat works on this because I can see
myself resorting to it...in fact I might have to because it's not ticking
off some of my completed objectives (deliver the Cylix and get back to my
room at the inn).

Having said that, there was a classic moment as I got Garrett to open a door
in the street of the city only for it to burst open with a couple of undead
running out after me. I made it to the water thankfully, but well done to
the author for that excellent moment of fright.

I know what you mean. I don't much care for the undead, either, and had
similar feelings when I played CL. But don't give up on CL, or this
mission. The undead are easy to avoid, and if going gets tough (you happen
to run into one), just run away (they won't catch you if I recall) and jump
in the water. Problem solved. Besides, the boneheads are easy to chop to
pieces with a backstab. Keep at it! The next mission is again completely
different.

What sword was it that Garret got that could killt he undead better
than the other sword He had? What was the name of that thing?

I think when there are a lot of undead that sword it sure would
be more interesting if that sword was available.

It varies with FMs but I think you mean Constantine's aka The Trickster's
sword.

True, except there isn't any water in the Cemetery...

But again, some of them appear to be indestructible! I managed to sneak my
way in to the building in the cemetery but can't see how to get down in to
the cellar through that hole in the floor without getting mashed up by the
horde within. The female undead in there just will not go down!

CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+END is a wonderful thing...and the next level is much more up
my street.

Sure would be nice to see that sword in missions that have
their timeline in sync for after Garret was allowed to keep
that sword.

Its a real cool thing to have in brawl in the tombs level.

Yeah like I say that extra power sword would be nice to have in a level like
that one too it sounds like.

I dont like missions wheere if you pick (when possible) the easiest level
it is not as easy except for the die hards out there.

Some of us need an edge just so we can even get a chance at seeing all the
layout the mission builder went through.

When some of us are not able to get through it all then the mission
builders for that person was a waste of time....

There's another way in from the graveyard that takes you right into that
basement room where you find the Cylix. You need to go back to the Cathedral
after the undead are out and go into the small study. There's a key under
the edge of the desk that wasn't there before. It unlocks the basement door
and gives you access to a tunnel.

Cool, but which desk? Is it the one in the room with the basement door that
I think you're referring to? If so, I can't find the key!

I wonder if that's because the objective of delivering the Cylix hasn't
actually been crossed off as complete...

I would think it's quite possible that if the objectives aren't working
properly, that other things might not as well, such as having the key appear
there at the proper time. Too bad as it's a much better way to get the
Cylix. I think there's another way down there, too. I'd have to check but I
think you can get in from a secret door in the side of one of the tombs in
the graveyard but I don't recall how to open it.
