I totally forgot earlier, any drive connected will be considered a removeable drive.
Upgrade the Intel Matrix Storage Manager to the newest version as this fixes a lot of problems with the older versions and will detect the drives correctly as to whether they are internal, external or removable.

As I have told theteddy and others, it is very important that you get the drivers directly from the makers of the drivers instead of from Gateway. Also it is important not to install any of the crap which Gateway installs on the system.
The flickering you mention is the cursor issue that theteddy mentioned and that many other people have encountered with this system. I think that part of that was the older ATI Catalyst driver from the Gateway website. You want to use the newest driver directly from ATI. Also, the Creative Suite can cause problems.
