Hello,

I bought nVIDIA GeForce GT 240 DDR3 1GB and it seems like it's running slowly than it should. On the nVIDIA official site, the Default Bandwidth for DDR3 is 32 GB/s and Memory at 900MHz, but my Graphic Card's Memory runs at 533MHz and Bandwith 18 GB/s. I tried with overclocking the GPU Clock to 650MHz and Memory to 630MHz, but got only 20.2 GB/s. 🙁

Here is GPU-z pic. - http://i41.tinypic.com/k3sncj.gif

Anyone can help?

Thanks

When you checked the bandwidth numbers on nividia's site did you make sure you were looking at the GDDR3 version since that's what you have? The GDDR5 version is actually significantly faster (10-20% in most real world situations if I recall right).

The other thing I see that's wrong is the number of shaders reported is 48 instead of 96, which also puts your Pixel Fillrate and the Texture Fillrate at roughly half their actual values as well. Also, are you sure you aren't snapping a screen shot while the card is down clocked because because of under use (i.e. no 3D apps running)?

Thanks for reply.

The GDDR5 has about 50-60 GB/s Bandwidth and Memory at 1900MHz. DDR3 has 32 GB/s Bandwidth and Memory at 900MHz.
I tested the card with FurMark and got only 6 fps. LOL ! That's too bad !
Take a look at this pic.

I'm realy disappointed. Can the frequency be automaticaly downclocked in BIOS?

Can you post pics of your card or tell us what brand it is, are there any identifying marks or numbers on it? If the chip is wrong then there's no way to fix it, but the only way to verify is to remove the heatsink as shown in the thread I linked.

Could be drivers? did you try instaling old drivers or getting newer? I had an HD6570 and with the CD drivers it "overclocked" and when i instaled a fresh release from the website it put the speed as it should.

Btw i can confirm that the GDD5 memory version have roughly 60gb/s bandwith, i have on of those..

I installed the last drivers from NVIDIA's website.

Driver Version 8.17.12.9610 - nVIDIA ForceWare 96.10 (296.10)
Driver Date 2/29/2012

Check this out.

I'll try installing other driver. If it's not a solution, this GPU is definitely FAKE ! It would not be GT 240. I'll try other driver and reply back.

Well you are runing a PCIe card 2.0 in a slot 1.0 x16, which means in theory that it will run at half of the performance it should... did try istaling it into another rig? or any other card into your PCIe slot? maybe thats the problem...

PCI 1.1 x16 isn't going to be saturated by a GT 240. I had a 5850 that ran full speed just fine in a PCI 1.0 x 16 slot. Either the card is a fake or something is wrong with it.

OP, check the power saving settings in the nVidia control center, set to max performance and try rechecking your GPU stats with GPUz. That will make force the GPU to run full speed even under a 2D load and should report the settings as if a 3D load were being run.

I suggested that, because in theory, it could a problem... We are trubleshooting so i guessed that if the PCIe is not the problem, could be the card... So lets say what about your seller, did you contacted them?

Not good. It does look quite a bit like the fakes from the other threads and there's no brand stamped on it anywhere. You'd have to remove the four screws holding on the heat sync to check it out for sure in which case you'll need to reapply thermal paste to put it back together, but it's not looking good to me.

Any chance you can return/exchange the card?

So is there any way to read/run the bandwidth like PCI-E 2.0 does?

Can the BIOS caused this problem? Cause my motherboard seems to use a kind of older version of BIOS. Take a look at this pic.

Do you think I shoud flash to newer version or it is not going to solve this problem?
