radeon 9600 is by miles faster and beter in terms of performance ...gts2 is a dx7 era card while 9600 is a true dx 9 card ..at leas 4x as powerful as the gts2

I've never head of the GTS2, unless you mean the 10yr old Gefore2 line...the 9600 is ok by AGP standards, but long obsolete...

The only cards worthy of an AGP system would be the ATI 2600 and 3850. Nothing else is powerful enough for modern applications, especially gaming.

May i ask, why are you asking?

i just aquired a dell optiplex gx240 1.8ghz p4 i was hoping ti was going to be at the very least a AGPx8 but it ain. i was hoping to use it as a basic media centre but the video quality isnt too good an d there realy isnt much room for improvement so i will just use it as a juke box

im not spending money on a decent agp card as its only going in a AGPx4 system. is there anyway of bumping up the speed of the agp bus?

+1 for junk it and start over! Or at least gut the mobo/chip and put something else in. For less than £100/$150 new you would be able to get a basic dual core cpu, 2Gb RAM and a mobo with onboard video that would be more than ample for playing movies and infinitely quicker than a 1.4Ghz P4! Or search Ebay and I'm sure you'd be able to pick up the same for about 1/2 the price.
