Getting Code 12 after installing GT240 512MB DDR5

I tried installing this card last night and couldn't get it to work, in the device manager it gives me a code 12 "this device cannot find enough free resources". Used the drivers on the install disk, then went online and got the newest drivers from the nvidia website and still not working.

Current setup
AMD Athlon 64 3700
MSI RX480 Neo2-F Socket 939 Motherboard
2g ram
450W power supply

After searching a little I think it may be a conflict with the HDMI audio, but I'm not sure. Didn't really get a chance to troubleshoot much last night, so any suggestions.

Two devices have been assigned the same I/O ports, the same interrupt, or the same Direct Memory Access channel (either by the BIOS, the operating system, or a combination of the two). This error message can also appear if the BIOS did not allocate enough resources to the device (for example, if a universal serial bus (USB) controller is not an interrupt from the BIOS because of a corrupted Multiprocessor System (MPS) table).

You can use Device Manager to determine where the conflict is and disable the conflicting device. On the General Properties tab of the device, click Troubleshoot to start the Troubleshooting Wizard. "

So use the troubleshooting wizard and it should tell you what is causing the problem. We may be able to help further at that point.

I'll go through the Troubleshooting Wizard tonight, I haven't had much free time with work.

I did manage to update to then newest bios and drivers using MSI live update, contaced the MSI tech support and they suggested to reset the CMOS which I tried and still have the Code 12.

Ok I am using the Troubleshooter in the device manager and it says to look for which device is sharing resources with the graphics card. Under the memory selection there are 3 entries for the graphics card each with a different set of bracketed letters/numbers, that look like [D000000 - DFFFFFFFF]. There is another item just below one of the graphics card entries, labeled"PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge" with the same sequence of letters/numbers. It seems like all the other entries in this table have a unique set of letters/numbers associated with them, I assume this is where my problem is.

The next step in the troubleshooter is to reassign the resource by clicking on it and going to the resource tab, it says I should be able to uncheck the "use automatic settings" tab but for me it is grayed out and I am unable to click it. This is the same for all the entries in the table.

I can uninstall the PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge but not sure if I should. As you can tell I am not a computer expert hopefully you guys can understand what I am describing.

no, pci to pci bridge is needed for the vid card. it is ok for these to share resources. What you should do is go into your BIOS setup and disable unused things like com ports, parallel ports etc.

In my BIOS I have com port1, com port2, and parallel port. Disabled all 3 and still getting the code 12. I am unsure of what else to do, think I might just return the card and try a different one.

Hi everyone,
Finally I solved my problem "PCI BRIDG code 12" I had sleepless nights just to fix this problem.

at the end and with some testing I was able to know the source of the malfunction how is to check the speed of your RAM.
If you have 2 different RAM Frequency try to change them to get the 2 RAM of the same Frequency.

Try also to have the higher frequency of RAM that is compatible with the motherboard.
