Getting new CPU

im getting new cpu and want to use my old cpu fan the question here

what if i didnt clean the thermal paste from cpu fan and applied the new thermal paste to the cpu
what will happend in this case ? cause i cant get alcohol now

You should always re-apply new paste to a clean processor/heatsink whenever you remove the cooler.
If you dont, the cooler will not perform as it would with fresh paste.

Now, if you simply cant get any alcohol you can try just wiping it clean with a coffee filter or similar lint free items. Its not ideal, but its better than sticking old paste on new paste.

If you stick old paste on new paste it could be a noticeable difference, enough to warranty buying isopropyl alcohol.

Those should work for the time being, if the temperature gets too high down the line, redo it then.
