shame i really hope nvidia finds a miracle and has a viable product i want lower prices ofc i've held out this long i can easily hold out till a refresh of this gen. But just playing around in sc2 beta on my new 1920x1080 (i know 16:9 but sc2 shows more screen on 16:9 resolutions then 16:10 so weird) makes me want a more power hungry gpu as there are ultra and extreme settings i can't use! o my goodness must get to use those settings else going to feel so empty.

Wow When I post Fermi is No more. You Delete my post. TYVM

I think the problem is how you said it. You've repeated the same drivel so many times I could fill 2 forum pages with posts saying Fermi = closed when in actual fact fermi isn't even French.

Great me saying Fermi=closed is not ok. but you guys saying nvidia is doomed.. doomed.. is prefectly alright.

ferm (pt) means closed in french.

Prolly wll have to wait out for the reviews to explain the price.
And its a pre-order price, which is always hyped and high and nothing wrong with it.

witcherx... why do you post oi. Monkey was joking when he said it, it is called sarcasm, look it up. Hence why his didn't get closed. You are blindly serious and repetitive every time you predict nVidia's destruction. You're basically Nostradamus without a following.

And ferm doesn't mean closed.... fermer and any of its conjugates mean "to close" though or some form of it......

dont use sabrepc as your guiding light for pricing. ZZF had ridiculous prices on numerous prerelease hardware items over the past couple years that were often times 200+ over suggested retail so i wouldn't make too much of sabrepc at this point. not saying i would be surprised in either direction but i wouldn't use it as a barometer.

On March 28 2010 There suppose to come out with the Fermi 300 Series. There is also alot of buzz about the Fermi 460 and 485 Series that are suppose to be coming out. Those may be just rumors tho.

Lol whut? Pulling numbers out of your a##. Fermi 300....460...485....
I know nVidia naming can be a bi##h but come on. :na:

..... seriously, as hallowed said "Lol whut"?

The 300 series is rebranded OEM cards, they are NOT the Fermi cards.

The 400 series which is launching at PAXEast on March 26th or 27th are the new cards using the Fermi architecture. The ones mentioned for release are the GTX 470 and the GTX 480.

Re-branded as in the OEM equivalents of the 40nm die shrunk versions, so not really re-branded or re-badged as you can ONLY get them in an OEM pre built PC.

Nvidia too goo they pre empted all the fanboys saying that ati will win even if fermi does well the 3xx wont be good enough when the 6xxx comes along and nvidia will need the 4xx, so what does nvidia do *** the 3xx if it's so crappy we gonna go stright to 4xx, yeah suck it!

From the previously mentioned review, 5870 < GF100 (GTX 480) < 5970. Is there any change from this, and do numbers exist (in any form) for the GTX 470?

Those numbers come straight from Nvidia and represent "Fermi." They do not represent a retail product. It is impossible to say if they were overclocked, how many cores were active, etc.

The numbers floating around now range from 5% faster than a 5870 for the gtx480, to more than 30% faster. We won't see any legitimate numbers until the end of March.

It is likely that the date they gave us represents the date when a limited number are released to retailers, though it is certainly possible that is the date they send to reviewers, with who knows when being the date one can buy them.. Have to wait and see.

I would hope its more like 30-50% stronger then 5870 because then they can price and make it somewhat attractive to those who wont be using it's gpgpu functions all day.

actually, "fermer" means "to close" in french and "fermé" would stand for "closed".

i don't think "ferm" or "fermi" means anything :S. Anyway, its named after Enrico Fermi and he was Italian, not french: ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enrico_Fermi )

Fermi - The inventor of the nuclear reactor i think.....maybe they were trying to hint on the power of this thing. Like i said from the start....this was going to be a beast!

If the pricing rumors are correct theyre claiming the gtx480 to be faster or AS FAST as the hd5970...

They did, after all, say it would be priced accordingly to performance to be on par with the competition.

the HD5970 = $600
GTX 480 = $699?? So either theyre claiming it to be faster, or charging a premium for a single GPU card that is as fast??? thats if the rumors are true, mind.

There's a lot of rumours, no one knows what the price will be. Wait and see.

http://www.guru3d.com/article/nvidia-geforce-470-480/

And that's where I like to end this little opinionated article. NVIDIA's Fermi is not a what I read somewhere "a sinking ship" or to quote "Hot, buggy and far too slow". I have no doubt it will be a good product series, but I'll agree on this, NVIDIA likely would have wanted to squeeze some more performance out of it as it was likely the most difficult product they have ever gotten to market, it has been fighting them all the way.

In the end as stated we are not sharing juicy details or the performance numbers we have seen. As always, in order to remain objective you judge a product once you actually have had it in your hands to test it. Which is what we intend to do.

In the end I'm not concerned about NVIDIA, but the AIB and AIC partners heavily rely on these new products in already harsh times. And for them this all is and was worrisome. So with that I'd like to close, patience, my friend, is a virtue ... we should all have a little more and base our real opinions on the final product, and not blindly absorb rumors on the web. We do expect a final release late March. But that as well remains a rumor, of course.
