Hi

Bought a new 3 meg Gigabyte Windforce a few weeks ago and notice the fans are not spinning. TBH, this is the first time I have checked as I just installed it and ran with it. Clearly I'm getting a display but the fans are not running for some reason?

Any thoughts?

System is:

Intel Core i5 3570K @ 3.40GHz
Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. Z77-D3H
8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 667MHz
3072MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 7970 (Gigabyte Windforce)
932GB Hitachi HDS721010CLA332 ATA Device (SATA)
932GB Western Digital WDC WD1002FAEX-00Y9A0 ATA Device (SATA)
W2246 (1920x1080@60Hz)
Corsair CX 750

Most likely you have not installed the power cables in the GPU.
You have probably plugged the screen to the onboard graphics.

Therefore you get display, but not from the GPU itself. Install the power cables and plug the monitor into the dedicared GPU instead. It isn't together with all the USB ports and such, which are the output of the motherboard

You have to plug it into the GPU which installed at the PCI-E brackets, mostly below the motherboard.

Faulty card is my guess, the fans should be spinning at the time you power the PC on. Some PSUs have adapted to shut down fans while idle, yet this doesn't apply for GPUs yet.

Have you checked temperatures or tried putting some stress on the card?

Sent it back a few days ago and awaiting a replacement after it was found to be faulty.
