Have been looking up various ATX motherboards what is good for having a RT9070 and an AMD 9800.

When looking up on various sites and videos, the top spots are AsRock, but sadly the Taichi version cost like over 800AUD, which is absurd. I looked at the 850 Steel Legend that seems to be good and doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

I also read that the Gigabyte B850 Aorus is pretty good for gaming, which is over 400AUD. So I looked at the less pricier ones like the Eagle or Gaming. I'm alright if I need to pay 400AUD to get a good rig going, but if I can save a bit here without losing on quality, I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks.

Gigabyte have a number of B850 chipset motherboards under the Aorus badge, which one are you looking at? Regardless of what motherboard you choose, you should look at something that has a beefy VRM design and a heatsink atop of said VRM.

The one I'm looking at (and actually the only one listed on the site I usually buy from) is the Aorus Elite. Which has this listed in the specs:

Thermal

  • VRM Thermal Armour Advanced
    Superior Heatpipe
    5 W/mk Thermal Pad
    Integrated IO Shield
  • M.2 Thermal Guard Ext.
  • Smart Fan 6
    Total 6*PWM/DC Headers
    Dual Fan Curve Mode
