I have been trying to get my memory stable with my Z68X-UD7-B3, I have 8GB G.Skill DDR3 PC3-17000 2133MHz RipjawsX which runs at 1.65 volts. First i tried XMP but that froze right away then I tried 1.66 volts and manually set the speed and windows eventually freezes, then i tried 1.68 volts and i still ended up getting a blue screen in time, now im all the way up to 1.70. I am trying to run the memory at its rated speed 2133 Mhz with auto timings. My cpu is currently not overclocked until i can figure out whats wrong. Why am i having to set the voltage so high? I had the p8p67 pro and the maximus iv before this and both of them worked perfectly with my memory. Also i have the ram seated in slots 2 and 4, the manual says 1 and 3 but that was a complete failure couldnt get over 1866 for some reason.

Are you still stuck with USB 3 -> Disabled?

I know my RAM, try increasing VCCIO {GA's QPI/Vtt Voltage} -> 1.20v. More than likely you'll need to OC to keep the 2133 MHz stable. edit: also Performance Enhance -> Extreme, and 'try' Rank Interleaving -> Enabled.

I assume that you manually set the System Memory Multiplier, CAS Timings, and the Command Rate (CMD) per the XMP-column spec in CPU-z; e.g 9-11-9-28-2N, or 11-11-11-30-2N depending upon the kit chosen.

Q - What's your CPU-z SPD/JEDEC options, in particular the one shy of the XMP column?

I tried setting the qpi/vtt voltage to 1.20, setting performance enhance to extreme and rank interleaving to enabled instead of auto, but sadly still ended up with a crash, i just don't understand why both of my previous motherboards worked perfectly without having to touch anything, especially not having to overvolt it i mean i felt bad enough buying 1.65v memory but i feel like im digging a grave for my i7 by having to set it even higher. But here is the crash, my bios settings and the results in cpuz.

Its not usb 3.0 thats disabled just gigabytes usb 3.0 turbo mode thats disabled, supposedly it uses some of the pcie pipelines to improve performance.

Yea raising my cas to 11-11-11-30-2n at 1.68v works fine without crashes now but i dont understand why both the p8p67 pro and the maximus iv extreme i used to have worked perfectly at 9-11-9-28 and 1.65 volts with this exact ram.

CPU-Z SPD (i think you asked for it earlier but i forgot to post it up)

I've seen this happen before on both high Frequency with loose CAS and low tight CAS 7 RAM, and from one MOBO to another. My observations this happens more with Gigabyte than ASUS.

Also, I assume that you tried 10-10-10-{29~30}-2N. It may or very well may not work; 50/50...

I 'get' that it aggravates the hell out of folks. Frankly the 9-11-9 vs 11-11-11 is microscopic at 2133 MHz. The real Gigabyte expert is Lsdmeasap and I know he loves to OC the crap out of Gigabyte MOBOs and RAM http://forums.tweaktown.com/members/lsdmeasap.html

My expertise is ASUS and EVGA.

edit: CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E) and CPU EIST Function Disabled will/should improve stability for OC. Bad side it sucks a lot more power.

Still no luck i contacted gskill but after many troubleshooting steps they ended up just telling me to rma it but im pretty sure thats not going to fix this issue(works fine in other motherboards) and i really dont want to go 3 weeks without. I ended up getting it stable at 2133 at 11-11-11-30-2N but the voltages had to be at DRAM: 1.68v and QPI/Vtt: 1.260v and i have multi steps load line at level 7. Its crazy that i had to up the voltage just to get it to run underclocked hahahaha. Is it safe to leave it at these voltages? Any more ideas?

edit: I tried 10-10-10-29-2N at these same voltages but it crashed right after starting a prime95 stress test and im afraid of setting these voltages any higher.

edit: Am i going to be stuck with it set like this? If so i might as well just go out and buy gskills 2133 cas 11 ram thats rated at 1.5v for $100 and sell these sticks.

Dude i thought i was the only one with this problem ... i have the same G skill ripjaws X pc3 17000 ddr3 8gb (2x 4gb)2133... stock volts 1.65 i have mine at 1.66 cas latency 9.. SIW is only showing me running at 1600... i have a new asus 990fx mobo with the bulldozer 8120... some guy left a post on the review at newegg that " on amd setups you will not be able to achieve 2133 on air cool " hinting at the high voltages you mentioned...idonno ive tried everything... i have set the freq. to 2133 in my advanced bios... im stumped.. imma try some stuff you mentioned ... i posted a thread a little bit ago named " Memory questions 2133 on crosshair V" check it out maybe sum1 might drop something useful... pm me if u want.. i wanna figure this out... im pissed
