Glide slowly dies...

Now that Nvidia has swallowed 3dfx whole, glide is clearly obsolete. Or is it? Most AAA games have at least a 18 month development cycle, and the Unreal engine was built from the ground up for Glide. It might take a while before Nvidia cards are supported exclusively. and there is still ATI.

the problem i see is that nvidia never supported glide when they took over 3dfx's property, why start now? the games that support glide are designed to work on cards that are out now. if nvidia announces they no longer will support glide in their cards, glide is dead in the water. it would be cool if they did support it but they don't need to. they already have opengl and d3d support, adding glide would be a lot of effort that would bring no return$. there's no buisness reason to incorporate glide support into their new chipsets.
