Going to get a DVD burner!

wondering, my old burner crapped out on me (hp), and im going to get a new one today. I hear of burn-proof and other nonsense... what do these do, i dont want this one to fail on me.

My local computer store only stocks the LiteOn 812S, not the 811S. Any differences? Still as recommended as the 811S?

Lite on rocks. I have made like 17 backups and NO COASTERS. I use RIDATA -R (like $45 for 50 from Newegg). So far has worked on all my dvd players (even my old ass RCA). Go for the 811s,good buy from Newegg!!

Initial indications are the 812S will be even better then the 8_1S series. Highly recommended drive.
Believe it or not I've seen many results on write quality with the 8__S series that beat the snot out of the newest Plextor drives.

I thought I could see it clear. I thought Sony SRU-530A was considered the best DVD+-RW recorder around. But it looks like you are not even going to mention it. I was considering getting the external version of that recorder, the DRX-530UL. But from your amazeing support on LiteOn I am not sure any longer what should I do.

Why do you love so much LiteOn? Why only plextor is mentioned and inmediately defeated because of its price? Why can you see the excellence of LiteOn so quickly and I am still considering Sony, Nec, Plextor and others as fine options?

I feel I am missing something in the picture that makes me unable to chose the right DVD burner.

Let's put it this way. Why is better the Liteon model than the DRU-530A model from Sony? Please, help me understand your full open support for liteon.

Sony currently doesn't make DVD burners. They rebadge DVD burners from LiteOn and Optorite. Sony DRU-530A is not made by Sony. It's a rebadged Optorite. And Sony's latest latest U18A burner is rebadged LiteOn SOHW-812S.

LiteOn is considered the best. Because,

* Good DVD burning
* Best CD burning
* Excellent at copying copy protected Audio/Game CD
* Excellent CD/DVD reader
* Very, very affordable

but when it comes to DVD burners.....they are terrible
in fact...SONY is wroking on their blue ray burner right now
and give up on the DVD burners...the DVD burners they have right now
are rebedged from Optorite....

Personally, I think Plaxtor have the best burners, but they are
expensive as hell...when it comes to price/performance...
Lite-On would be the king...

thats the reason why people love it so much
