Going to need a new 939 CPU cooler

Back at school now, I've discovered that my dorm doesn't provide good ventilation to keep my overclocked PC cool. My temps have jumped from about 48-53C at 100% to 53-59C... unacceptable. The little Cooler Master POS works fine but isn't going to cut it so I need some advising on a better CPU cooler.

I don't have the need, or the money, to spring for a $60 cooler so here's some ideas I've tossed around:

Needs to fit on a 939 A8R-MVP mobo.
Cost around $30
Keep a 2.5GHz OC cool

I've looked at the several Zalman models, but none are shown to be compatible with my MOBO. I've also taken a peak at the AC Freezer 64 Pro but been unable to to find any mobo compatibility.

Do you guys have any recommendations and or suggestions? Or should I get out a tape measure and start measuring to see how much space I have?

That cooler looks to have some nice potential. What are you running the CPU at?

Anyone else feel free to suggest me some good coolers.

New funds have just become available.. Even though I have plenty of money to pay this semester's bill, the parents seem to think that I need extra.

That Zalman 9500 just got a bit more attractive.

Any other suggestions guys?

why do people buy zalman products ?
their performance is always substandard compared to similarly priced coolers.
The Tuniq Tower 120, Scythe Infinity, and Scythe Ninja rape the Zalman in performance for the same or less in price. Also, they are more customizable for your own fans and cooling, albeit much taller and larger.

Splendid
Since more money is available, you might think of a Zalman 9700 instead of a 9500. I've seen them on sale for under $50.00 and they given 2-3 degrees better cooling than a 9500.

As for the other coolers that got mentioned, they are more expensive, bigger, heavier, and are a waste at the OC that you are now running.

Sheist! Those are much more impressive than Zalman models. Thanks for the tip; it's time for me to take some measurements and see if I can fit one in.

$5 more for a lot more performance and much quieter operation isn't much

I am running the Gigabyte cooler on a 939 4200+ at stock speeds for and office server here in Aust where the ambient temps can reach 35c fairly often and that cpu never goes over 40c.

I am running the Zalman 9500 on my AM2 4200+ @ 2.5Ghz and it cools very well (approx 10c over room temp at max load) and is nearly silent.

Just my opinions and observations.

Thanks for all the help guys.

I'm looking to get either a Scythe Infinity or Ninja if they will fit. If not the Zalman 9500 would certainly get the job done too.

Ended up going with a Zalman 7700CU. Both Scythe models were too large for the case :x and I didn't want the LED lights of the 9500.

with respect, please consider different word choice. there are many other effective, less offensive ways to say what you want and get your point across

thanks

I've had good experiences with my Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro. It's very quiet, keeps my CPU at 32C idle (with Arctic Silver 5), and the best part is it's only $30 (I actually got mine for $20 when newegg ran a $10 instant savings deal on it).

Says it fits "All AMD Sempron, Athlon 64, Athlon 64 X2
Athlon 64 FX (Athlon 64 FX-62 and Athlon 64 X2 5000+)
All AMD Opteron" so there you go.

Just make sure you have enough room in your case for it, because it's pretty big.

You can also try using Sycthe Ninja, Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro, Scythe Infinity. Those are the ones I would go for.

ok so we've got the Tuniq Tower 120, Scythe Infinity, and Scythe Ninja, and Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro- any data/tests running these against eachother?
