This is great news - but everything the Central Party does is done deliberately and always for a reason, and since we all know that they are not about to lift the curtain of propaganda, false-history and censorship, I scratch my head and wonder what they have up their sleeves. We shall see...

The funny thing is, for all the publicity around Google pulling out of China, they complied (without any argument) with a whimsical request by the Australian Human Rights Commission to remove search results for an Encyclopedia Dramatica page.

It's great that the executives safely here in the states found the courage to do something like this. Not so great for the sad sap Google employees in China that will feel any wrath the Chinese government wants to dish out. Likely about the time the Google brass are teeing off at the country club, some poor schmuck Chinese office workers will get tossed in a cell for their "crimes" against the state.

It seems that all those scenarios in games we play, where "companies" run the world with their private armies etc is becoming reality!

on another issue, it is about time China becomes a more relaxed country. They will still be powerful and will even look better in the eyes of everybody in the world.

Now they just need to give a Chinese response "It is our policy to follow the laws of China" seeing that it seems someone else just hacked Google's system to take down these filters. Good for you Google!

"It won't be funny when they stomp a new mudhole in them."

Google made a stand, just like the guy who stood in front of the tanks in Tiananmen Square. In the entire history of humanity there always has come a time when the people have stood up against a more powerful tyrant government for what they believe in, even if it means certain punishment\death. Sometimes you have to decide when it is time to fight or flee, but just don't flee too often, or the government will lose it's fear of you. Believe me, those tyrant 'leaders' hidden in their guarded palaces wherever they are, are wimps, absolute wimps. Their strength comes from the sense of security they feel from all those dumb enough to swear their lives to protect them, or who blindly follow their commands. If enough people rally against those leaders, you will see THEM flee. It's all written in history, every bit of it. What is happening now happened a hundred years ago, two hundred years ago, three hundred years ago... Are YOU man enough to fight, or did you also lose your balls in this recession, when your company outsourced your job to China?

The Chinese govt is probably going to say what they always say. "Google has hurt the feelings of the Chinese people and caused great damage to it's relationship." this is a thing the Chinese govt always says when things don't go their way. I am expecting something like this if they are going to respond to Google's actions.
