Google Chrome Won't open

Today I tried to open Google chrome and it did nothing. Its not blocked by avg or anything so I went to the installation folder and looked at the debug log and it can't find "Chrome.dll" here's a pastebin http://pastebin.com/ZQ5zsLGM Can someone please help me get chrome to work.

Before I had trouble opening Chrome, I noticed several times that Chrome was v-e-r-y slow in responding, like maybe I had lost my internet connection. After a week of that, I couldn't even open Chrome. Also, I have been having trouble with File Explorer being slow to display a directory, sometimes with that green bar that sweeps across the top of the pane v-e-r-y slowly. I didn't think these things were even related until I stumbled across this:
Press Windows + X, then open the "Command Prompt (ADMIN)"
Type: netsh winsock reset
hit "enter"
Restart the computer
This solved all my problems with Chrome and the miserable green bar in File Explorer.
Note: you must be using the ADMIN command prompt for this to work. What you're doing is resetting the TCPIP stack. Somehow it's getting corrupted.

I am of the absolute opinion that Windows 10 is purposely blocking Chrome. It only opens with adminstrator on my machine. It is also very likely that Microsoft has found a selective method to do it so that some experience it and some not. I cannot be sure. But I suspect Microsoft is behind it via its updates.

No solution : I have a question about how to purge and correct the configuration and files of Chrome as since I did a windows 8 to windows 10 upgrade Chrome just crashes on startup.... however rename Chrome.EXE to any other name and it works fine (until the next upgrade) what is going on?

I have now two machines on windows 10 -- one the upgrade from win 7 failed completely and a format fresh Win 10 install followed by Google Chrome works a treat (that machine is 32-bit). I have a 64-bit machine that I upgraded from Windows 8 to Win 10 and chrome crashes... I tried all the suggestions from uninstall/reinstall to uninstall and delete the files in the Program Files and User App areas and go hunting for registry keys... however it won't run if left as the default Chrome.exe have to rename it to run... why?

Me too. Wouldn't load. Uninstalled Chrome, and now it won't even download for a reinstall. Beautiful app turned into a pile of junk? Luckily, no such problems with Firefox. Whew!

I have since noticed that Windows stops the Google Chrome Services, if you go into the Task Manager and under services, and restart the services, Chrome should open. So far since doing this, Chrome has been working on request. Though now that I posted this, it will probably stop working again.

I had this error, and I had to do an sfc /scannow to resolve:
1. start powershell as admin (right click task bar and select Task Manager and then choose File > Run New Task, then type powershell and tick the "Create this task with admin priv")
2. in the powershell admin interface type sfc /scannow
3. leave to scan - this checks the windows instance isn't corrupted - in my case it wasn't, but if you do have corruption, you can fix with DISM command. I'd search the internet for a better solution on what flags are needed)
4. I then rebooted my PC once sfc stated my PC was fine. You probably don't need to do that step but "belt and braces" as they say!

For me was also missing my desktop icons and windows explorer wasnt showing files or folders either, however after step 3 all came back to me magically even though there was nothing found.

Will I lose all my saved passwords?

This isn't the answer as I have had to uninstall and reinstall Google chrome a number of times. It will work for a while and then the same thing happens again. Won't open but edge will open instantaneously.

I have removed and installed 2 times in windows 10, must be a bug somewhere.

same here. always quits working after a short time after re installing.

Sfc/scannow is not recognized...
Just retried with sfc (space)/scannow. And it is scanning. Important tip there. Also this looks to the about at least 20 minutes... 5 minutes have gone by and it's about 18% done... so getcha Netflix ready... I'll update you all with my outcome.

Everything was found to be fine... still have problems opening Chrome..

I found a solution that worked for me after trying many failed attempts.
I believe the issue is related to a recent major Windows 10 update. Some people uninstalled them and that did the trick for them. I personally prefer not to mess with that. By experience, uninstalling Windows updates has often caused me problems.

The solution: download and install "Spybot Anti-Beacon" and click the button "immunize" (there is also a portable version). I am often reluctant to install 3rd party software in order to solve OS related issues. I had this installed after following Jerry's instructions in this video. I trust Jerry not only because he used to work for Microsoft, but because he is also an accomplished tech-savy person who owns a very successful YouTube channel.

What this program does is to block some Windows 10 features which are meant to track your activity and personal data and send it to Microsoft. It is well known that even after disabling data collection and monitoring options in privacy settings, a windows update will most likely turn some back on again. If you are concerned about

Actually I have had this program installed for months and I run it every now and again. But it didn't cross my mind to do it even though my windows run a major update about a week ago. Just now, after some people mentioning windows updates, that ringed a bell and I run it again. Instantly after that, Chrome tabs no longer freeze. Everything is working now =)

If anyone with more knowledge could discover what is it that Spybot Anti-Beacon specifically does, then a standalone procedure could be found.

I have had similar problems trying to instal Chrome to a new device on WIndows 10. It works for one day, then refuses to open. I uninstalled and reinstalled. It refuses to open, then after about 10 minutes (once I have opened Microsoft Edge) it opens but then fails to open basic pages such as my yahoo account and I get "aw snap".

I have installed the spybot and it is working fine now, and will have to wait to see about updates or even whether it works tomorrow.

I suppose MS have put something in causing this. They would be better off improving their own products than doing that. When it is working, Chrome connects much more quickly than Microsoft Edge, and Google is a much better search engine than Bing.

....and it worked until today. I installed a Microsoft update and now it goes straight to "aw snap". I opened Skybot and found two new things on it which I have immunised, and it is still "aw snap". This is very annoying, as all my passwords are saved on Chrome.

Has anyone any idea what they have put in the up date that is blocking Chrome?

they are pushing Microsoft Edge, I uninstalled chrome, use edge to get to chrome web site downloaded it and installed it again... no more issues
