I would much rather use the 5GB from Google than any other cloud storage. Google has proved to me that it keeps my data safe, and that is all I care about.

Others may require something more, but that is their choice. All I know is that I am glad Google decided to offer this up, because for me 5GB will last me forever.

With Microsoft office on windows phone you are not forced to use Skydrive to store your docs. If you have your own cloud setup, you can go to settings, select "Sharepoint" to add your own server address and Voila your data is safe with you(on your server) and still on the cloud.

Google makes its money by gathering information about people to show them the right ads and they also just keep data about people that they dont need. Ask for the data they have on you if you dont beleive me. By law they have to send you all the data they have. (Can do the same with FB ... and see how much data that they don't need is in their hands!). Remember the Google Chrome expoilts? ...

Microsoft on the other hand is not a company that makes use of ads as much as FB and Google and has set standards with certifications for security and privacy all over the world... So the most safe from the two is surely SkyDrive. Dropbox has now too little storage on it, though its still one of the best.

Man... anymore Cloud drives and I'll need a cloud for my cloud software LOL! Box / Dropbox / Asus / MS / Google / Apple. Each serves their own purpose and more free is more, well, free.

Well, I've got gDrive now, but the funny thing is, there are 1 or 2 documents that may say "me" on the far right beside the date, but opening the documents shows stuff that's not by me. For example, there's a document with addresses of libraries, etc. in Ontario, I for one wouldn't need those, as I very rarely go outside of Toronto.

Cy-kill, you make my point very nicely. How did those documents get on "your" drive? Who put them there? What's in them? Malware intended to open a backdoor into your corporate network? A program to extract potentially sensitive data from your system?

The documents are just regular text files, the one with the addresses is a spreadsheet, but I think my gDrive may have gotten crossed with someone else's somehow when it was being authorised to my account.

[citation][nom]jtt283[/nom]...and if I were in charge of IT in a company, one of the first things I'd do is block access to this at the firewall, with a zero-exception policy. This would be a great source for targeted infection. Remember Stuxnet?[/citation]

If you did that, the first thing "I" would do if i was running a business and you were my employee would be to fire your butt, because this is no more a 'source for targeted infection' than any other cyber-locker.

And you think these "cyber lockers" should be available to employees, on the corporate network, and on company time? Don't worry, you wouldn't need to fire me, as I would never have applied in the first place.

Sadly, it's only 7GB now, unless you already used it and made sure to upgrade your account back to 25GB. (limited time offer)

While I like your avatar you're scaring me.

microsoft made cut from 25 -> to 7 GB 😀 😀 😀 so your post is stupid

Yes, but offers for old users an update option and you still have 25gb for free. So who's the dummie?

anyway MS cant offer features like google (for example opening many file formats without any software needed)

I went to Skydrive site and because I am an existing user I upgraded from 7Gb to 25Gb for free

It's storage, arguing about being able to open file formats without extra sftware is a stupid arguement, of course you will have codecs if you have a PC

I have an issue with SkyDrive. Quick story:
Wife was in the living room of our howe, I was on the can with my WP7 device. Thought it would be funny to send her a pic 'text' for a joke. All fun and games, wife laughed, my day continued.
Few days later, I get an email from Microsoft saying I have porn on my SkyDrive, and need to remove it immediately. My phone is set up to save pictures as soon as I take them on the SkyDrive. While this is great in the case where I take a picture of something amazing then drop my phone off a bridge in to some water etc.
I'm not a huge whinner of "you are in my personal buisness!" type of person. I really don't have anything to hide, but this is just down right invading of my personal life to a HUGE extent. Knowing every picture I take on my phone while hooked up to SkyDrive is being screaned just, well, is wrong.

That won't hold up, at least not here in Canada, because we've got amazing privacy laws, so there's no way they can claim ownership over a Canadian's private property.

The only thing I'm willing to upload to Google is email and photos. Unless they're more into data theft than I suspected they're not getting my docs.
