thing is it only happens when the pc is idle or gpu temps are low. when gaming this sound dissappears after a few moments. and fan noises return to being smooth.

i have removed the gpu and the fan seems in place and nothing is wrong.

will it harm the pc in any way if i leave this problem as is?

is this caused by the motherboard maybe?

GPU: XFX RX 6400 low profile

Have had this pc for over a year and it never happened before.

Looks like an HP prebuilt, can you pass on the SKU to said prebuilt? That is not caused by the motherboard. It could be that a cable is brushing up against the fan blades or perhaps the fans are clogged and the bearing in said fan's motor is croaking. You'd have a better understanding of it, by opening the case and inspecting for the source of the noise.

Looks like an SFF system so you shouldn't have trouble locating the source of the sound but in any case, it's good if you could roll a sheet of A4 paper and then hold one end of the cylinder to your ear while the other end is used to probe for the source of said noise.

hello. i just check where the sound came from, its 100% the gpu. the fan makes this weird strong vibrating sound. maybe the fan is misaligned? or the fan is loose?

also there are 4 screws on my gpu maybe i have to remove the gpu and tighten them up?

will my gpu be damaged if this continues?

gpu is xfx rx 6400 low profile

hi. nothing been fixed yet although i did remove the gpu from the pcie slot to inspect it, i found nothing near the fans that would make the fan noise, but i noticed when i placed back the gpu into my pc, the sound was now persistent on all temps and it was more consistent. untill i launch the game and after afew minutes the fans would rattle off and spin smoothly and quietly. and the fan noise changed, the sound changed to a more higher pitch vibration sound after removing the gpu. maybe because i removed the gpu and i played with the fan seeing whats wrong, maybe i pushed some dust off and the rattling vibrating noise was because of dust collection? i didnt clean or opened the pc for a year or more. could that be the dust and how would u recommend me removing it? please reply :)
