Question GPU only running at PCI-E 1.1x1 in PCI-E 1.1x16 slot.

Hello there. I have AMD Radeon R9 280X graphics card. I have old system.

Motherboard model is: Asus P5LD2-X/1333. It has PCI-E 1.1x16 slot

But my graphics card only running at x1 which causes serious performance loses. About %40-50 peformance loss.

My old motherboard died. GPU was running at x16 and perfomance was way better.

Old motherboard was Asus ROG Commando which has PCI-E 1.1x16 slot.

I'm getting hardly 30fps in the same game with this motherboard. With old one, i was getting about 60 FPS.

I have installed latest BIOS but it didn't worked.

Is there's way to fix this issue?

Truth be told, the only way to fix your issue is to migrate to a platform that has PCIe 3.0 on it at the very least. You're loosing performance/potential from your GPU by working with a much older generation PCIe slot.

The chipsets on both are not the same, I'm also lead to believe that both platforms are not identical.

Are you sure when your mobo died it did not kill some of RAM? When some of RAM is not reachable due to failure, maybe it affects RAM-VRAM transaction performance too, because pinned-buffers are less likely to be allocated?

1. Test your RAM against failures
2. Remove dust from PCI-bridge (ofcourse after removing the graphics card)
3. Check the graphics card power input if its getting enough power or not
4. Make sure any power-plan of windows is not causing this

Different motherboard, different chipset. You did a clean install of Windows?
