Hello all,
I just recently got all new components,
r9 270x 2gb turbo GDDR5
fx 6300 3.5 black edition
1tb wd blue HDD,
gigabyte 78lmpt rev 3.0 mobo
corsair vengeance 8 gig of ddr3 ram 1600

the thing is, when i start gaming, the whole temperature gets pretty high. i dont get any frame drops, but my computer has shut down twice due to high temperatures.
Is this being caused by my psu? i have a cooler master thunder 500w psu.

Solution
your gpu temp are high. You need add case fans around the gpu, 1 to supply fresh cold air from outside and 1 as exhaust to remove heat out of the case

the case that i have already has a side intake fan. but there is no rear/top exhaust fans. should i change my case then?

can be a good idea to get a better case with side intake for gpu, rear exhaust and top exhaust fans.

what case do you have and how many case fans do you have in it?

the case isnt of a very high quality, as i was on a strict budget, i got a local company (foxin), but it has 1 side exhaust fan, located right on top of the gpu area.

you can run a utility like MSI Afterburner, turn on on screen display (and show temperatures for your GPU, CPU etc) while you are gaming so that you can see if your computer is overheating

i downloaded speedfan, and the figures while gaming were around 70-87degrees while gaming for gpu, and around 50-60 for CPU. at idle, cpu goes around 20-30, and gpu at 30-35.
DIdnt check the temp when it shut down though. must have been higher at that point.

thanks, ill try doing that
