I’ve been on the lookout for a new GPU for a while, and with my recent upgrade to a gold-efficiency 750W PSU, now seems like the perfect time to make a move.

I initially thought it would be straightforward, especially with the Intel Arc B580 hitting headlines for its $250 price tag. However, in the UK, things aren’t as simple. On launch day, the cheapest I found was £259.99, which converts to around $325, and since then, prices have only gone up, with out-of-stock models now reaching around £280 - £300 ($350 - $375).

These price hikes are making me reconsider my options. I’m now debating whether to wait for Nvidia’s 50 series to release, especially if they eventually drop a 12GB variant of what seems to be an 8GB 5060. Alternatively, I’m wondering if Intel will be able to lower the price of the B580 in the UK or if I should revisit some AMD options.

Would love to hear your thoughts on the best move here!

Intel GPUs still suffer from bad/inadequate drivers and some game titles not working. Getting better but not there yet. Nvidia 50 is still not fully known until officially released. There's also AMD thrown in the mix with promised new GPUs at low and mid level range with more acceptable prices.Don't know about UK prices but Nvidia 4060 or AMD Rx 6600xt/6700xt are still very usable and next gen at that level will hardly be much if any better.
