GPU using too much power

Hi,
I recently bought an Asus 970 4GB graphics card. It has been running fine for the past three weeks. Today, the computer turns on for a split second then turns back off. I did some troubleshooting and I believe the GPU is using too much power. When I unplugged it it worked fine but when i plugged it in again, the on/off thing happens. Is there any way I can use less power? I have an EVGA Supernova NEX650G.

What was your previous gfx card? An 970 doesn't use all that much power where recent gfx cards are concerned, and a 650W psu should be fine. It's not a top tier PSU but it should still be stable.

A GPU doesn't use much power at POST. You should test the GPU in another system to make sure it isn't defective.

A GPU doesn't use much power at POST. You should test the GPU in another system to make sure it isn't defective.

Sadly, I don't have another system to test in.

Do you have another PSU? It doesn't have to be powerful since the systems doesn't draw much power at POST.
