Hi,

I have sold my old GTX 660,I'm in urgent need for a new graphics card as my system don't have onboard graphics.
The system specs include Intel DP55WB Board,i5 processor.

And I use a 1080P monitor.
I want a card in which I can run latest games like mafia 3 on high settings.

And budget is around $300

Should I pick the GTX 1060 6GB or the RX 480 8GB?

In my country these 2 graphic cards are very overpriced.
I'm planning to get it from Amazon USA,they have the XFX Version of the RX 480 around 275$(including shipping)

the EVGA GTX1060 6GB for around $300(with shipping)

None of the brand's other than EVGA Offers international warranty.

So I'm tempted to go with EVGA.

Please advise.

Thanks

I can't really say how long any card would "last" but what i meant in my previous response was Radeon cards have much better long term driver support where as Nvidia dumps cards to the limited "legacy" support after about 4 or so years giving them limited patching and performance updates where as AMD offers good performance updates to cards that are quite old now. This often gives the Radeon cards a boost as they get older often getting ahead of their previous Nvidia competitor. The 1060 is stronger now in general but give it a few years and i have strong certainty that the RX 480 8GB will be...
The warranty is a good point for the GTX 1060 but at the same time the RX 480 is cheaper. Overall the cards perform very similarly usually the GTX 1060 6GB is ahead overall but in a mix of Vulkan/AMD Titles the RX 480 comes ahead so it depends what you are playing. Personally i would go the GTX 1060 6GB if you are keeping it for a maximum of 2 - 2.5 ish years before upgrading. Any longer and i would go the RX 480 8GB simply due to the extra VRAM, stronger performance in Vulkan which hopefully will gain more popularity in the gaming market and of course the longer support for drivers offered by Radeon cards. So to conclude:

RX 480 8GB:

- 2GB Extra VRAM
- Better Vulkan + AMD Titles Performance (Also a fraction ahead in DirectX 12 but recently Nvidia has improved on this)
- Better long-term support
- Cheaper
- CrossFire Compatible (Multi-GPU)

GTX 1060 6GB:

- More Power Efficient
- Better General Performance especially in DirectX 11 + Nvidia Titles
- International warranty on the EVGA variant as you stated
- Lower temps under load (Better cooling)
- Excellent Overclocker if you are someone who OCs

Just go with whatever appeals to you more, hope this helps :)

Plenty of articles on this if you want to go browsing but i'll provide one here > http://www.babeltechreviews.com/hd-7970-vs-gtx-680-2013-revisited/3/

^ The old HD 7970 vs GTX 680 re-benchmarked in 2016. So if you plan to keep this card for quite a while (more than 2-3 years) then i would strongly advise grabbing the RX 480 8GB, if not then the GTX 1060 6GB will probably stay slightly ahead within this time. *Probably*

Here is one on the GTX 1060 6GB vs RX 480 8GB (Launch in July 2016 vs 6 months later in December 2016) You'll see the GTX 1060 is still ahead overall but the RX 480 has already creeped closer in this time > http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/73945-gtx-1060-vs-rx-480-updated-review-23.html

That's a rough one, Mafia 3's PC optimisation is pretty poor. Here is a video comparison of the RX 480 and GTX 1060 running it in High, about equal performance which is around 35-45 FPS on average. For smooth 60 FPS i would chuck some shadows down to Medium and what not.

Ummm.. Okay.. So even if its the 1070, Mafia won't play well on high settings?

Basically what I'm asking is that -with the GTX 1060 can I run most of the new games out there now on High settings on a 1080P Screen.

I know that some games are poor PC Ports.

btw what the FPS of PS4?
