I am looking to buy a new card. Gtx 1080 TI is still performing very good. However, 2016 is manufacture year. Should I go for something newer, RTX instead?
It depends what you play and resolution you play at. I have EVGA gtx 1080ti sc2 with 8700k and running none OC I can run Shadow of the Tomb Raider on max settings and get average 66fps at 1440p (SMAAT4x). With TAA only enabled and not the SMAATx2/4x then I get average 96fps on benchmark, X2 I get about 75fps average then x2 is the 66fps. I am looking at upgrading though to the TUF 3080 OC just because I can (technically can't though as no stock ha). ]
It is all down to your personal choice. Anyone can comment what they would do but do what you feel more pulled towards. If you don't, you'll regret it.
I wouldn't pick up a GTX 1000 series card now. It's two generations old.
There are better choices in the RTX 2000 and (hopefully soon) RTX 3000 series, probably for around the same price.
