Hello,

I'm getting ready to order a new graphics card for my system, primarily for playing BF3.

I'm wondering if spending extra for the GTX 570 would be worth it over the GTX 560 ti.

Also, with the GTX 560 Ti 448 coming out next week, it sounds like it might be a great alternative.

I want to run BF3 at 1920x1080 resolution. I don't need to run everything maxed out, but I'd like to know if spending a little extra money would make a significant difference.

Here are the rest of my system specs:

AMD Phenom II 1055T Hex Core 2.8GHz
Asus M3N78-VM MB
8GB DDR2 PC2-6400 SDRAM
Samsung 64GB SDD
GeForce 8800 GT 512MB (replacing this)

Thanks!

Alan

The GTX 570 will definitely out-perform the 560 ti; but if you don't need / want to run everything on max settings you don't even need to spend the extra money on the ti version. If you just want to play on mid settings, the GTX 560 or even the 460 has a shader and core clock plenty high enough to run BF3 even on mid to high settings.

According to some users that wrote on my thread. The GTX 560 Ti 448's performance should be on par with the GTX 570 or AMD 6970. I can't wait for the release, I'm anxious for a new GPU too >_<

Either card will be fine. The GTX 570 will deliver slightly better performance. However, if you are willing to OC the card, you can save $50 to $100 or more by getting one with a great cooler and OCing it to GTX 570 speeds and performance. The new GTX 560 Ti is also an option, but it's basically a lesser GTX 570. Still an option, however.

Check this out http://www.tweaktown.com/news/21520/nvidia_s_geforce_gtx_560_ti_448_cores_packs_a_great_green_punch/index.html

GTX 560 Ti 448 Cores will be almost identical to GTX 570. I was actually going to buy the Asus GTX 570 Direct CU II but now I'm holding back to wait for the release on GTX 560 Ti 448 Cores. Which will be releasing in 11/29/11 (USA).

Asus is going to have the Direct CU II heatsink+heatpipe on the GTX 560 Ti 448 Cores too. I think it'll be the triple slot, not the dual slot.

Found some pricing for the GTX 560 Ti 448 here:

This chart is supposedly from NVIDIA and seems to indicate that the 560 Ti 448 will perform nearly as well as the 570:

It does seem like spending a little more for the 570 would make sense.

But how would the overclocking capability be any different? Its basically the same chip with one less streaming module, right?
