GTX 680 possible overheating

Hey everyone

I recently bought a gtx 680 and its been great for all my gaming needs....that is.... until i looked at the temp. I seem to idle at or slightly above 75 degrees. When i play games such as planetside 2, it goes to around 85-90. What do you think?

Have you tried cleaning it out with compressed air? That's way too high for even a reference card, I'd get a replacement if you haven't found a solution yet.

I remeber my gtx 480 and i have to the same problem....i changed one gtx 580 and the idle is 55-57 temp and in to the games 70-80 temp.

You need my friend go to buy new strong cooler to your video card.

75 o.k. 85-90 not which card do you have sounds like a reference design

the new cards is not idle (in to the games a few hours ago) still working up to 100 degrees with manufacturer cooler. don't worry......if the idle 75-80 degrees to your video card temp you have problem

I have an EVGA gtx 680. I used gpu temp program to find its temprature. Can you guys throw me another program that i can use just to make sure its not the software giving me errors? And i got this for Christmas so theirs no dust.... and i just dusted my computer today Which didn't change anything at all

You can use GPU-Z and CPU-Z to monitor temperatures of those individual items. Or you can download one of many other temp monitoring programs to watch both at once. HWMonitor is a good one (made by same folks as CPU-Z) that will allow you to see temperatures of the CPU, GPU, Motherboard, hard drives, etc. All at once even!

look to ALL real temp in PC or everything, CPU, GPU, Motherboard, hard drives, etc.... in programs ....sisoft sandra, or aida64

Your card temps are normal 60-75c is normal higher is not

OP how many case fans you have got as an Intake and exhaust ?

I think your case lak cooling.. I've got the haf 912 , 2 CM 120m fans in the front as intake , and another 2 at top for exhaust .. and ofc the one that comes with the case at the rear as exhaust add another one to the side as intake (blows directly towards the card)

try having something like this and see if thigs gets better.. blower cooled cards need alot of air in the case

If that does not work then trying updating the BIOS of the card, go to evga site directly and download the drivers from there, also download evga precision X and make sure the gpu fan speed is set on AUTO , the evga gtx 680 is a very nice card please don't make it suffer from any fevers

I have a normal case and opening 2 sides and put the one side a big summer fan and its all ok in my pc temps for gamming

gpu-z says it has a gpu temp of 21.0 C, which is roughly 70 degrees farenheit at startup

the case i have is an NZXT Phantom that has 1 exhaust fan and 3 intake fans

i've already updated the drivers to its latest edition

does it sound like i need to make use of the warranty?

omg now that i've put it on auto, i remembered that i upped the fan speed on msi afterburner and now its idling at 77F... fml lol

btw is it a coincidence that my cpu seems to be heating up quite a bit even though its at its factory set clock? maybe its the motherboard... idk

It could be a few things need more info list your currert system specs

Yeah im defintely going to add a cooler. So far im puzzled as to why the gpu is overheating, everything seems normal so i guess im going to send it back to EVGA. Thanks for the help
