GTX 690 "3-way SLI" with GTX 680?

As the others said, Nvidia's hardware does not allow hybrid multi-card configurations. You can have Quad SLI with 2 GTX 690's or use a single GTX 690 and use the GTX 680 as a dedicated PhysX card. This kind of setup is overkill though when many consider my GTX 560 Ti to be overkill for PhysX duty.

not entirely true.
hybrid PhysX is real and using a HD Radeon GPU with nVidia GPU (PhysX) is very common.
just takes certified 'hacked' drivers.

so the 'hybrid' term in this case is incorrect and needs to be strictly about nVidia PGU's.

- What's your monitor res?
- Why do you need to go higher than a single 690? (I know you have a 680).....unless you have a good deal opportunity right now, in which case get the 690 and sell your 680?
- Why not get another 680 - pretty much 1/2 price of a 690?
- You may want to look at your cpu before these kinds of high-end multi gfx set-up's.

more cores on a 680 and you can overclock it as well...
