Solution
I understand you're nervous, however fire emanating from the GPU is likely unrepairable.

With respect we've given you answers based on the minimal information you have given us. You have either connected the wrong PSU connection into the GPU, have an incredibly poor quality PSU (which it appears you actually don't), or the GPU was faulty.

Fixable? Not likely. But if the GPU was defective, the manufacturer are liable to repair, refund or replace it. So you can send it back to the manufacturer.

I feel for you that this has happened, however your next available options are ultimately limited. But I do hope that it was just a faulty GPU and therefore it can be replaced free of charge.

You need to give us more information. If there was an actual fire, I'm not optimistic that it's repairable, but we'd at least like to keep you from doing this again, but you're not really giving us anything to go by.

Question from Eric_210 : "Fire on the GPU"

I recently bought new pc parts, turned on PC via old HDD where was written the old Windows 10.
they told me that it would be nice if I install new & fresh windows, so after installing, PC turned off, I turned back on and the fire appeared from the GPU and it wasn't operating. I had connected everything correctly, I can't see any problem from my PSU. Can the GPU burn if it's connected only from the motherboard?* Here are some pictures and my system specifications:

i5 - 3470
EVGA GTX 960 2 GB SSC
8 GB RAM HyperX
EVGA 500B Power Supply

Well my questions are:
1# Is it possible to repair my GPU? (you can see the obvious burned part in the pictures)
2# Why did it burn up? any reasons?
3# Did I buy a bad GPU? maybe it had some problems on it but it was new (The guarantee expired btw, they gave me one week guarantee, but I hadn't bought other parts to test the whole system up in that week. they tested the GPU in the market, I was glad)
* 4# Can the GPU burn if it's connected only from the motherboard? (but it wasn't connected only from the Motherboard, I'm sure. The GPU uses one 8 pin connector)

Thanks foretel !

I'm so nervous, please put yourself in my position 🙁

Solution
Hi All,

We were cleaning my son's gaming PC, and connected the GTX 960 to the motherboard, but did not connect to the power supply. Turned the unit on, and the fire emanated from the middle of the GPU, about a third of the way back from the ports. I guess the moral of the story is, always plug in your GPU to your power supply.

But wow, like how does this even happen when it's not connected to the power supply?

Anyways, not interested in snarky or pinheaded answers really, just wanted to add to they "YEAH MY GTX 960 ALSO BURNED LIKE ACTUAL FLAMES COMING OUT" thread. Because it seems to me there's something like very dangerous that whoever made these cards should really address.

Later. Please don't be a humorless dork. Peace.
