Show me one stock 5870 that sits at 63c on load and 73c @ 955MHz core and 1385MHz memory.

Yep, But it's still faster tha your card.

(Lol)

Yep, i'm gonna reapply compund, and if that doesn't work, i'm gonna bury my 4870 next to my dog. (JK)

There is a new beta version of MSI afterburner out,1.6, with support for GF100. There some info in the release notes about fan speed. Once you change to manual mode, you need a reboot to re enable automatic fan control.

OK, for everyone with a DX11 card,

Whats new is - DirectX11 On-Screen Display and screen capture support-

I believe this will also now show FPS via osd in dx11.

Yes , I believe so. I've read the release notes, and have been in the config files. Nvidia cards are supported.
I enable FPS monitoring, then enable on screen display. It shows what dx version and fps and other data if you want.
DX11 did not work, now it does.
I also use a custom fan profile, its very convenient to use/make one, when I o/c.

Hi guys, I saw this graphic just now.

gtx470modtess2nova.png

Dual 5770's are almost as good as a gt480 in tesselation and easily beat a 470. Look at that crossfire scaling too, wow. Is this the final nail in fermi's coffin?

Hi randomizer thanks for your comment. Moderate tessellation is the second most intensive mode, and one of the new added modes with unigine 2.0.

Thanks dude, this is just like EVGA Precision but better [:jaydeejohn:5]

The voltage control is the icing on the cake, did not know that they were going to come out with a version that works with all NV cards.

even moderate is probably considered more then what most games coming out in the near future will have.

anyways what i see there is a toxic 2gb radeon still fail to beat a 470 😀

the two 5770 show up weak the tessellation is on the chips scaling up. but at a price point that just looks great for ati 2 5770's are better then a 5870 runs in general like a 5850 and costs less then a 5850 (most times) only down side is the board and psu requirements and limited upgrade capability.

Please, Please, Never go on these fourms ever again.

Not only do you make no sense, but every post is either

A. False/Fanboism.

B. A Riddle

C. An OXymoron.

D. A combination of the 3.

My comment was directed at a bench someone posted above although one or two comments came in before mine

I'm not the most coherent person(as i assume most people make the same comments in their head as i do explaining what is what) but please don't mistake my confusing babel as mis-information most of the times they are harmless comments that don't weight any significance to a topic. I used to go around giving advice on parts and ocing but then i fell to mostly just looking at the gpu and cpu threads for rumors like it was cheap smut.

A different video on the sound and noise from the GTX 480~ installed in case.
Article here. http://www.fudzilla.com/content/view/18329/1/ Fermi has lower thermals in a good chassis
Nvidia has proven in a video that if you place a Geforce GTX 480 in a proper case such as Cooler Master Cosmos, you should be getting quite good thermal results.

The key point that Nvidia proved with a video that you can see at extrahardware.cz here is that the card is not that noisy and that temperature are in very normal values, as long as the card is not outside of the case. The card runs at 52 decibel but in Unigine Heaven at 2560x1600 the card runs over 63 decibels and it's much noisier.

The same card has 97 Celsius at FurMark 1.6.5 at 2560 × 1600 in Cosmos S case while in much cheaper Cooler Master Centurion 534 the same card gets all the way to 105 Celsius.

This is still quite hot and hotter than Radeon HD 5870 in any case, but it proves the point that a good case, or any case, will make things look much better than testing the card on table testbed.

So basically that was a great cooling case cooler master cosmos S
some random themermal take psu
and i think an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro of some sort

vs

cooler master centurion 534 a more modest smaller cheaper case
can't tell psu on 2nd one
and a scythe mugen

i'd point out both cpu coolers unmodified are known for being quiet, can't say much about the psu's

he pretty much got a a 10 dba diff which is quite alot

and stands by nvidia's statement the better you keep the gpu cool the less you'll hear the fan rev up which makes sense.

edit:went to the website listed to try to find an article or forum listing the video closest i got was
http://extrahardware.cz/test-geforce-gtx-480-gf100-fermi-recenze-i?page=0,25
not going to spend too much time randomly clicking though a website in a language i cannot read.

little more digging and the 2nd rig is
zdroj: Gigabyte Odin GT 800W (GE-S800A-D1)
skříň: Cooler Master Centurion 534
chladič CPU: Scythe Mugen 2 (1300 rpm) + Noctua NT-H1
systémové větráky: Arctic Fan12 PWM + Cooler Master 12 cm @ 1000 rpm
in terms of potential noise

tried going though their forums but after seeing it's 58 pages on fermi with no obvious youtube embedding lol

lol i fail
was on the front page i just assumed it was the same article

who runs their 500 dollar graphics card inside of a 50 dollar case anyways. True if you want to be happy with the acoustics and cooling of the card you need a good case but wouldn't that be for most graphics cards better case means less fan noise becuase less fan speed is needed as the card remains cool better. True the acoustics of the GTX480 at max is rather annoying so the intensive for a better case and cooling is more prevalent.

imo if you throw down more then 200 for a graphics card you'll learn to love it no matter what "payed good money"

Because some people have a budget. That's right, we all don't have money growing out from trees, and we can't spend $900 because we can spend $500. An HD5870 OC'd, an HD5850 OC'd (heavily), and an HD5970 will outperform the GTX480 in performance (Assuming you volt mod the HD5850), power, and price (on the first two cards). If a user doesn't have 3+ case fans / liquid cooling, they're going to run into issues.

A HD 5970 will, an OC'd 5870 maybe, a 5850 OC'd... probably not, and you're forgetting the 480 CAN be OC'd.

And all Izzy is saying is, if you spend $350-500 on a graphics card, and stick it in a cheap case, then you are asking for trouble with heat, even if it isn't the card with the problem.

Anyone that has money to buy a 480 should be able to afford a decent cooling setup, or don't buy high end GFX cards.

Bahh, you don't need to spend 150.00 on a case, what you need is high RPM/CFM fans "all around" and some decent cable management. As long as you have proper airflow and you are not running the cards in scorching ambient temps you will be fine.

It's not that bad of an article. I lol'd at, "You'll want to make sure your manufacturer has a rock-solid warranty".

Not everyone has setup like this. Lots of people that buy enthusiast components don't have enthusiast chassi (plural of chassis?).

Room temp of under 83F...that eliminates Mexico, Africa, Southern-US, South America. Of course there's air conditioners, but I'd feel bad for those. As for noise, it won't be an issue for people with boxes above or below their desk, but for those that have their monitor on their box (which IMHO is always awesome), or their box is on their desk, it'll be noticeable.

Not to mention that the single-slot ventilation (other slot DVI/HDMI/etc ports) probably isn't going to be enough to filter out ALL of the heat, meaning lots is going to be dumped into the CPU and other components inside your case.
