I realize that, but really all I'm trying to get at is that we need to see some benchmarks where the fps's aren't so low and so close, because proportionally, the SOC 5870 looks very unimpressive with the Metro 2033 bench. But as I mentioned, a couple fps variability might not even be the graphics cards fault, it could be a number of things, so a benchmark where the cards get close to a 100fps would be a bit easier to tell where all the cards stand. And I think at that point the spread would open up like I mentioned, maybe not as much, but you'd see the difference in the cards.

Also, I can say the drivers add so many fps because I've used both drivers and checked :p Using the 256.15 drivers in Metro would've given the 480 a few more fps and openned up the gap more... that being said, TGGA just nicely explained why [H] used said drivers, and I'm not really going to argue their testing methods as I don't really do that professionally :p

I would also agree though that I don't think a huge OC on the 480 will make it match the 5970, it would kind of be like the SOC 5870 deal; it could get close, but I doubt it would actually match it and definitely not beat it. A 20% performance increase across the board would be quite a bit >.<

Uhh, when you're talking about 30-37fps averages, 4 or 7 fps is a freaking huge difference and is very significant. Otherwise, who cares about the SOC 5870 when it only got ~2 more fps than the stock 5870??

This is again why I said, I'd like to see some higher fps benchies that may not be so deadly on the cards just to see the fps's open up a bit so we can see a solid spread of where each card lies on the spectrum, without having to worry about other varaibles that could be messin with the fps.

I also kind of wish people would test these "high end" cards with a minimum of 4x AA on any benchmark, cause seeing no AA seems a bit ridiculous when most people I know run with at least 2x-4x AA.

And thanks TGGA again for your explaination, you are an invaluable encyclopedia of information sometimes hehe.

They were all over the place in numbering between the beta's and the WHQL's as well, that said the 257.21 WHQL's are available now either direct from Nv or the download site of choice I should imagine.

as anyone used it? I have. Although my 6200 card is um ...... how do i want put this :pt1cable: , a bit underpowered to really play any games.  So i cant really say if it improved anything.

Yeah, there a automatic overclocking button so overclocking gpu's for non computer tech people is alot easier but the driver i had (i forget which driver i had out of the 19x.xx) corrupted. Haven't tried it sense then.

Dammit ye bastard, I noticed I said 'only' like 3 min after I wrote that while looking for lead free solder products and tried to change it before anyone noticed my mistake, I didn't ninja edit in time it seems.

But yeah, I never knew it existed until now and was curious if it was useful, I always used manufacturers programs o_O

It is, what is OvrClkr thinking? I say we should ban him to teach the masses an example of what happens when you don't read the whole thread to find your answer.

That won't instil fear like a good old dose of pain and suffering, bring on the Katie Price karaoke recordings I say.

From what i read, shader clocks are going to be 20MHz higher and be a full 512 cuda cores.
