Hi guys I need help I am really frustrated I just bought the new GTX 970 and its performing very bad I am getting like 30 to 40 fps in games example Assassins creed 3 Battlefield 4 assassins creed 4 is even worse and on. I tried updating the graphic drivers even download some of the old ones nothing helps same performance. Before GTX 970 I had the 670 and I was able to play most of this games on max settings basically way better performance then 970, please tell me whats going is the card broken or could it be a bottleneck ? but I doubt it because when i monitor my game play GPU usage is on 99% my CPU usage on all cores are around 56% depends on a game
not hitting 100% for sure

here are my specs
Motherboard MSI 970A-G43
CPU AMD FX 6300 OC 4.00Ghz Stable
Ram 8GB 1600Mhz
GPU GTX970
PSU 700w
OP windows 8 64 bit
Hard drive 2tb

Please help me understand whats going on, if you guys need more information let me know I will respond fast.
Thanks!

Yes still 99% could it be a problem with a manufacturer? I got it from frys brand new never been opened or returned

Mine goes up to 130 (8 pins & 8 power phases so expected) - I only have it at stock speeds though.
Make sure DSR is disabled in nvidia setting just in case - if for some reason its defaulting to a high res DSR mode in full screen it would lower performance massively.

Got it its off it was off

Salevi - I believe it's not the fault of reseller. Btw. what brand GTX 970 do You have? [MSi, Asus, Zotac, PowerColor, Palit, Gigabyte, etc?].

And to the DSR madmatt30 suggested:

Thanks man I got it, it was already off so its not it

Okay, we'll go for the big guns now.

Please download Treexy Driver Fusion, and follow these steps:

1. uninstall nvidia drivers completely
2. run Treexy Driver Fusion, and let it completely clean Your reminiscence of nvidia drivers
3. restart system and let it install VGA driver
4. install newest drivers
5. test it out.

Repeat the same, and try it with some 5-6 versions older drivers, You must always use Treexy, otherwise it'll run on new drivers.

And I know this is awkward for me to ask, but EVGA GTX 970 4gb FTW ACX 2.0 uses 2 x 6 pin, do You have them firmly connected, both of them? On PSU You should have 3-4 12V 6-8 pin rails. Have You tried to chance at least one for the 3rd, or 4th?

60C on the CPU is a little higher than optimal. But since the GPU usage is 99%, it doesn't seem like a CPU problem.

You heaven score is also low (I think it should be in the 40-50 range - closer to the high end of that) and heaven is very GPU bound.

I apologize if this was already mentioned but did you check your GPU clocks under load?

I am sorry I probably did not see you, the core clock is running 620Mhz and memory at 3500Mhz

Yeah so you want me to do the installation as you said ?

You won't lose anything by it. One more thing, any chance You're running EVGA Precision X? It can have preset some faulty profiles. Or any other software, that can be affecting the gpu clock/mem clock of Your vga? MSi AfterBurner is practically Precision X, more like other way around. MSi AfterBurner is superior, eventhough I like EVGA more, MSi has better software. For beginning, I'd try to remove the drivers together with all software that can control clock of Your vga.

I only got msi afterburner, when I am loading a game now it shows on main menus or when its about to load the game to its max clock but when I am in the game drops down the core clock to 500 or 600 or 400

Ok let me do everything and get back to you

tea urchin - that's a good point, and probably a good solution, but before he wipes his system out...

Salevi - ...get an external HDD, download iSO of testing Windows 7/Windows 8, or whatever version, get Easyuefi, install fresh system on it, boot from external HDD, don't install anything besides, only nvidia drivers, and run benchmarks + BattleField 4. If it works, You have the culprit, if not, I just saved You hours of getting Your old software back to Your system.

i don't think so. it happen first hand with me when i upgrade my GTS250 to GTX460. i got worst performance than my older GTS250 in most game except Crysis. OCing my CPU solve the problem though.
