Guide in assembling pc

Hi, I am planning to build and buy a new PC, mainly for softcore gaming (dota2) and school stuff (internet, adobe photoshop, autocad). My main concern is that I might buy components that won't fit to the motherboard and all that technicalities. Can someone help me understand all that? And probably suggest what I would buy. Price is a concern though, so maybe some energy efficient monitor and PC specs enough to do the above duties?

PS: I might buy the pieces one at a time, so maybe help me prioritize what to buy first?

I had seen this PSU in many systems. But only few PSUs which were working good. Most are just waste of money. That's why i was saying it is not good PSU.
