My GX200 insists on putting my card reader, when attached, at D: and moving
up the CDROM to E. Can I change the allocation to put the reader, and my
portable HDD, at E, F, etc., keeping the CDROM at D? My old Gateway did
this. As it is, it's a minor niggle but it means my shortcuts don't always
work. TIA.

What operating system? The instructions for a solution are different.

This is why I have always made my CDROM drives Z. Or if I have two as
I do now then they are Y and Z. Never have any problems then.

A: Maybe because some people are too annoyed by top-posting.
Q: Why do I not get an answer to my question(s)?
A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?

Your problem is due to the way Win9x works. Your only solution is
to move the CD drive to a higher letter. I use Drive Mapper, part
of
PartitionMagic to change the CD references.

Changing it to Z: seems to stick and ought to keep me going. Thanks.
