Half-Life 2: Saved game list question

How can you delete the saved game list. I'd like to
start again with a clean slate.

The save files are here on a default installation:

C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\(username)\half-life 2\hl2\SAVE

....when you get into the SteamApps folder, you should find a folder there
that matches your username, rather than a folder called (username).

Once you're here, delete or move all the .tga and .sav files, then restart
the game. All your save files will be gone. I found it useful to
periodically clear the older saves out of here as I played, as the load/save
screens got progressively slower and slower as the number of save files
increased.
