I recently bought a Seagate 120gb drive for my desktop pc. My desktop pc is a Dell Dimension 2350. I used an imaging station to copy my whole 30gb drive onto the 120gb drive. After installing the new drive in my pc, it would only recognize the drive as being 30gb. So my next step was to upgrade my bios & blast my "mbr". Now when I go into the Bios the computer recognizes the drive as being 120gb. But here is my problem when I try to install windows xp. I keep getting an error message "Hal.dll is missing or corrupt". So then I tried to install windows server 2000 but this would not work either. I got a different error message "UNEXPECTED_kERNEL_MODE_TRAP". I need some direction of how to resolve my problem. I want to install windows xp on the pc, so if anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.

hi

Try to reformat the 120Gb harddisk

If dont work go here to download Windows ME boot disk Floppy
http://www.bootdisk.com/

If u can
if u cant

Put the 30Gb & 120Gb make sure the jumpers are set right

When Windows Xp starts up on ur 30Gbs

Go to

Right click My Computer-Manage
Click Disk Manager

It show u what Harddisk it can see
If it see the 120Gb the Right on it and click Format when it finish

Take out the 30Gb harddisk and Boot from CD it should work
If dont let me know
