After just installing Windows XP PRO i decided to view the
contents of my second drive(this drive was full from stuff
i'd downloaded on windows 98se), when i went to view the
contents of my drive windows still confirmed that the
drive was full but when i open the drive all that is the
drive is a file that is apparently 0kb in size named O (th
e O also has a ~ above it) now this drive had 160gb of
data stored on it from work etc so i'm not particulary
happy if this is what happens when i finally decide to
upgrade to XP i would be gratefull if anyone could tell me
if i can get the files back as it's about 2 years of work
that was on this hd and i really need it back asap.

The only way you could have lost items was if you installed xp on drive 0
and drive 1 (second hd),was still connected to the IDE chain with power.
Big mistake, you need to manually disconect it during an xp install, actually
xp might not even install.Try opening my computer,R.click on the second hd,
properties,see what the graph shows,then close out,run disk defrag,select
second hd,see what shows in graph.

The second hard drive is installed in a caddy so i just
took it out before installing xp and put it backin after
xp had fnished installing. The hard drive worked
absolutely fine under windows 98se but now i can't get
anything outta it on either os. Is this what i get for
being stupid enough to upgrade my os and purchase another
windows system? To have to stupid tthing wipe my hard
drive?
