Had a working 600GB caviar WD hard drive as my main for a year or so and it died randomly, so I replaced it under warranty and it worked again up to a month ago. I replaced that one with my other identical hard drive I've been using as a back up. A month later (now) THAT hard drive has died. I'm trying yet another drive (WD green 1TB).
Anything I can do to prevent this drive from dying? Could it possibly be a hardware issue that's affecting it? My memory checks out fine. Also, when these drives died, it was random. No hardware changes or installing new programs. Seems like random data corruption and if it keeps happening, it can't just be bad luck. I can't keep spending money on these things.
