Haven't looked at AMD since switch to intel, now want cores threads+

So saw there's an opteron that has 16 cores and a motherboard which supports 4 of those, only thing is it only has SATA300 instead of SATA600. And now I am not sure if the SAS controller which does SATA600 can be seen as the same. I found this: http://www.tyan.com/product_SKU_spec.aspx?ProductType=MB&pid=670&SKU=600000180 motherboard maybe there are others which offer also SATA600, because SAS is more expensive if you want that on you drives.
