Hi all, and thanks in advance for any advice.
I work for a very small company and operate informally as their IT guy. (Very informally, considering I get paid no extra for it and I myself have had no formal training, but I digress.) Yesterday my boss finally got approval from the big boss to get a wireless router to replace the extremely old monstrosity with nonfunctioning wireless we had before. So naturally I was tasked with setting it up.
The wired part was no problem. We have a static IP with our ISP, and I successfully got that up and running with the provided IP, gateway, subnet, dns, etc. And I thought I had the wireless set up correctly - both devices (an Android phone and an iPad) were able to connect using the password I set up.
However, when trying to actually use the internet connection on the wireless device, the browsers cannot connect to anything. Attempts to access websites load briefly and then fail.
I'm assuming, perhaps incorrectly, that this is related to the static IP settings. Is it something I need to change in router settings, or do I also need to enter static IP settings into the Android and iPad? And if it's the latter, I'm assuming I need to change a part of the IP settings so there's no IP conflict. Which part would I need to change?
Sorry if these sound like dumb questions. I appreciate your time and if any more info is needed, I can provide such later while at work. The router is a D-Link Wireless AC750 (DIR-810L).
