Diminishing Returns Kick In:

CPUs priced over $230 offer rapidly diminishing returns when it comes to game performance. As such, we have a hard time recommending anything more expensive than the Core i5-3570K, especially since this multiplier-unlocked processor can be overclocked to great effect if more performance is desired. Even at stock clocks, it meets or beats the $1000 Core i7-990X Extreme Edition when it comes to gaming.

if you take a look at the ticker for Futermark you will notice that some times there will be people that score hundreds or thousands of points higher than other benchmarks with similar components, and they always have high end mobo's and chipsets.

i know its ivy bridge. im making a non related statement saying anything equal to or greater than(hence the plus) sandy bridge i5's should be able to handle any card.

So basicly i5-3450 isn't going to hold the HD 7950 back right?
Okay,
Is there a lot of difference when running an i7-3xxx CPU and running an i5-34xx CPU when playing games in ultra settings, sound editing, encoding, etc..?
Also is there a huge impact on performance when running above CPU and GPU on B75 chipset and H77? Does H77 do better?

@the great randini - So H77 will do better than the B75, yes? Since i5-3450 is a locked CPU, there's no point in using much expensive Z77 boards. I'm told that upgrading once every two genarations is the best idea so I'm hoping to skip next genaration.. :]
Am I going to miss anything big if I use H77 instead of the expensive Z77?

the only difference between the two really is overclocking the cpu. thats about it.
