Hi, so i have two 1 tb HDD in ghost mode (Mirroring) they keep all my data including photos, documents, 3d files, plans etc. i had this setup since 2014. Yesterday i had a power failure and my bootable ssd stoped working so i called a technician.

( I ASKED HIM TO DISCONNECT MY HDDS SO THEY DON'T CORRUPT OR ANYTHING.)

After many attempts he managed to recovered the sdd and my computer booted fine into windows. After rebooting a few times and not having any problems he decided to reconnect the other 2 HDD with my data but there was a huge problem!:ouch:

It seems like one of the HDD's was not actually working since 2016 (Lets call em "Disk A" and "Disk B" Disk B is the old one that has data from 2016)

I belive that when he plugged back the HDD'S Disk B was connected as the main Drive so all the information from Disk A got deleted and was replaced from the information from Disk B

I Have over 300 Gb of files etc lost. I downloaded Easeus program and im trying to recover my files but it seems like im not having any luck.:fou:

Any clues on what should i do??? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for your time!

UPDATE:

EaseUS did found my files in a lost partition and placed em in a file called "Other lost files"

thanks

RAID (mirroring in this case) is no substitute for backups. If the data is important, then you need to implement a backup strategy which is automated and includes multiple copies. For disaster recovery (fire, flood, theft) you need an off-site copy either in the cloud or a disk which is stored at another location.

Good that you got your files back, and pay attention to above ^ RAID is NOT for backups, it is used for quick disaster recovery when a drive fails but you need the system up and running without interruption. For backups you need a separate drive from those, preferably two others. So you have these drive mirrored, you accidentally delete a folder, it will be deleted from both drives. If you had an actual backup, you will be able to restore the files from there. Or in this case when the wrong drive was setup as the main one in the RAID 0 setup.
