HDD installation

So my MB has SATA2 and SATA3 connections. The MB came with a SATA3/up to 6 gb/s cable. The HDD drive is a WD SATA with speeds up to 6 gb/s.

1) Can I connect the HDD with the SATA3 cable?
2) Do I plug it into the SATA2 or SATA3 connection on my MB?

1) yes
2) either, you will see no speed difference either way, because HDDs arent limited by SATAII bandwidth. you could also use a regular sata cable. but i suppose you might as well use the SATAIII (SATA3) connection on the mobo with the SATAIII cable, if you have only 1 hdd.

SATAII = SATA2 = SATA3gb/s which is why its incorrectly called SATA3
SATAIII=SATA3= SATA6gb/s which is why its confusingly called SATA3
