I decided to add a secondary drive onto my pc build (my OS and files are currently on a Samsung SSD M.2 card). I have a 3.5" Seagate hard drive that works perfectly fine when I use an ejectable adapter that connects my HD to the USB port on my pc. My pc recognizes it and I am able to transfer files to and from the HDD. However, I want my HDD to be inside my PC case and be plugged in through SATA instead of usb. But when I try to do this, my HDD does not show up in disk management. I tried different sata ports and even different sata and power cables with no luck.

Given your HDD works fine via USB, we can rule out a faulty drive. It's good you checked different SATA ports and cables. Next, ensure that your motherboard's BIOS is up to date and recognizes the HDD.

If it's not recognized in BIOS, you might need to enable the SATA port you are using in the BIOS settings. If it's recognized in BIOS but not in Windows, it could be a driver issue or the HDD might need to be formatted. Be sure to back up your files before formatting!
