Question HDD partitions and BIOS problems in prebuilt Alienware M17x R4?

Hello, first time using Reddit forums,
I have a Alienware M17x R4 prebuilt laptop from 2014 which keeps getting the error DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
What failed: amdkmpfd.sys

The HDD drive I believe has been formatted and reinstalled with an unsupported version of windows, and BIOS is accessible, however I suspect may be a version not supported since no options are available to be changed, just information and greyed out selections. Windows does boot up, I am using it right now. The Alienware integrated diagnostics is accessible and can diagnose any problems with the drive on which it was unable to do a soft diagnosis on the HDD which I didn’t run in to in the past. Although I can access this Diagnostics screen there are no options on there to reformat the drive or fix anything of which I’m aware of. Any help would be very much appreciated, thank you

Thanks for the reply, this was my fathers machine, I now have it and it has windows 10 installed.

Win 10 should work no problem on a system from 2014.

Consider a full wipe and reinstall.
If it still errors, then we look to a hardware issue.

I did not personally upgrade it to windows 10 however my father informed me that the windows upgrade would not work so he had to format the drive to then manually install windows 10 by making a small extra partition to boot the drive into windows 10 setup. I am willing to do a clean install I just cannot find the built in Alienware clean install partition or whatever it was allocated to I am unsure.
