I'm using a gtx 1070 and a 43 inch sharp UHDTV with HDMI 2.0 inputs. I purchased an HDMI cable specified as 1.4. I'm able to reach 3840x2160 at 60hz without any issues except I can't enable full color and RGB like I can at 30hz. I've read lots of conflicting information online. Some stating that 1.4 and 2.0 cables are exactly the same and buying 2.0 would be a waste of money and others stating that 2.0 specified cables can reach higher bandwidths of 18gbs where 1.4 can only reach 10gbs. I'm not sure which one to believe here. Would upgrading to an HDMI 2.0 cable allow me to reach full color or is it a limitation by my display device?

did you label your PC input as PC on your TV? If you don't you won't get 4:4:4 sub-sampling. Also to get the 4:4:4 sub-sampling you have to make sure in the nvidia control panel is set to 8bit for output color depth...also some TV's require you turn on UHD color.

I just tried labeling my HDMI input as Computer and nothing changed. I believe the UHD color options were for Samsung. I have no such option on my tv.
Can't change any of the color settings on 4K and also HDR is still grayed out on Shadow Warrior 2 despite having an HDR capable screen.

Do not label as computer label as PC even if you have to type it in via the remote. As for shadow warrior 2 using my UHDTV I am able to use HDR even though I have one of the 8bit fudge it panels (ie samsung UN55JU7500 4K curved screens but for me I need 4:4:4 sub-sampling on to use HDR in games). I would try searching all your settings meticulously to make sure you haven't missed a setting. Also do a search on you make and model TV and see if anyone else has got 4:4:4 sub-sampling working or HDR (even if on xbox or PS) to see what setting they are using.

Okay I just tried manually labeling it as PC and still no go.

It's currently plugged into HDMI 3. I saw that was labeled 4k 60Hz so I plugged it into there. Checking out the link now.

Yes! My tv did report being a native 1080p tv and also it is labeled as hi sense in nvidia control panel....Now I just have to figure out what to do from here. I'm ruining it in game picture mode...still no change

Read a few more forums and have some more tips. Enable deep color if you have the option. Also You have to enable HDR on the input your using for the PC (or hdr enabled device), lastely make sure you have the latest firmware as it is required to enable HDR.

I can put up with some input lag but we'll see how bad it is...it seems like all I have to do is disable EDID and I should be able to change the color settings....googling now how to do that.

I have the latest firmware but there doesn't seem to be a deep color or HDR option....weird

well bro it's pushing 2AM here in hawaii and my ass is killing me....before you mind hits the gutter...I am in a wheelchair so I sit all the time and can get skin sores from it. Long story short its an injury from my time in the Navy and I need to give my back side a rest. Regardless I'll check in with toms first thing tomorrow when I am up to try and help you wrap this up. I know what it is like to have a brand new shiny tech toy you want to work perfect. Best of luck until then!!!

Sure sorry about that. Thanks for the help. I'm in Taiwan and it's only 8pm.:)
I bought this TV from Target in the US during the black friday sale because they do international shipping. The total price including the shipping was 1/4th of what I would have to pay here so I would say it was worth it nonetheless even despite all the crap and forms customs gave me about it.

Not really. I spent the whole night figuring it out. Just waking up as its morning now here. I tried using that tool cru and also a tool called RBGfullrangetoggle none of which worked. It's to my understanding that the EDID information needs to be overwritten or ignored completely and nvidia is detecting my tv as the wrong tv and setting things incorrectly. It detects my native resolution as 1080p which it obviously isn't. I've seen on some forums some people modifying their EDIDs to support things that their tvs were capable of doing but nvidia wasn't letting them but it's really complicated and its going to take me a while to figure out.

I should also mention that in order to get 1440p working on my computer I had to make a custom resolution. I don't know if that is because of the incorrect EDID or just normal for UHDTVs. It would only let me select 2560x1440 at 30hz so I made a custom resolution at 60hz and it works. I guess a similar thing should be done to get RGB 444 working.
Same goes for 1080p, I was able to get that working at 120hz after making a custom resolution. Too bad they don't let you set stuff like colors.

yeah I feel you. When I first got my UHDTV I had to tinker with the colors (was running on gtx 980s until i upgraded). Point was it took 2 or three months before rgb with full range color and 4:4:4 was working all in tandem. Got the 4:4:4 right away but intially had to run the YCbCr444 to do it. eventually nvidia patch things up and RGB worked fine. If there is anything else you need or I can do to help do not hesistate to ask. I'll keep checking in and searching for solutions in the mean time. Also was there a setting you could use to name as PC and not computer? I meant to ask awhile ago. For me that was key to getting everything working the first time with low latency 4:4:4 color.

Here's an interesting idea. I'm seeing that it's possible to export an EDID file from one monitor and flash it to another to gain the capability of that monitor(provided the monitor can handle it) since your UHDtv seems almost the same as mine maybe we could try importing your EDID file to my computer and see if that works.
Yes I was able to manually set the input name as PC but unfortunately it didn't do anything for me.

I'll look into these EDID editors. As for using my UHDTV's EDID file. That may or may not work. While our panels are similar (ie 4:4:4 sub-sambling 8bit panels that are HDR10 capable) mine lacks some of your functionality like 1080P @120hz and vice verse (input lag, etc). Anyways I'll see what I can figure out with EDID but admittingly I don't have a lot of experience with this particular type of file modding though I have mod/hacked many other techs in the past so it's not out of my comfort zone completely but i thought at the least I should let you know my lack of experience with EDID. LMK if you make any other headway in the mean time and/or get it working. best of luck to you!
