I'm using a gtx 1070 and a 43 inch sharp UHDTV with HDMI 2.0 inputs. I purchased an HDMI cable specified as 1.4. I'm able to reach 3840x2160 at 60hz without any issues except I can't enable full color and RGB like I can at 30hz. I've read lots of conflicting information online. Some stating that 1.4 and 2.0 cables are exactly the same and buying 2.0 would be a waste of money and others stating that 2.0 specified cables can reach higher bandwidths of 18gbs where 1.4 can only reach 10gbs. I'm not sure which one to believe here. Would upgrading to an HDMI 2.0 cable allow me to reach full color or is it a limitation by my display device?

Thanks I really would appreciate it. I've been tinkering around with this program and every time I seem to be getting close to figuring it out I get a black screen and have to start over. I have absolutely no experience modifying this kind of file as well so two heads are better than one. I'm just gonna throw this out there even though I think it doesn't matter that I am using 376.19 drivers. You mentioned nvidia fixing things for you. Did that just happen with the 376.33 drivers?

It worked!!!!! I now have everything selectable I can't believe it! Thank you SO MUCH!!!

Wow I even have 1440p as a non custom resolution and 2160p is set to native. I can select 444, 420, 422 and rgb at 2160p. Amazing.
Just tried 1440p and it's beautiful and not at all blurry like before. :bounce:

HDR is selectable on shadow warrior but it limits my screen to a small box in the center. Don't really care too much this already is a massive improvement!

Just tried 1080p 120hz and that works as well. All I had to do was make a custom resolution in nvidia control panel.

No it's fullscreen. It's not an artifact, it just looks like I have black borders on all sides.

Wait now it works fine. I just started the game up again and HDR is fullscreen!

oh the black borders. usually thats from running the game at a smaller resolution then the native resolution of the panel. Double check to see if the games res is set to 3840x2160 and not a close to (under or over) resolution. anyways off to bed for the night will check in when i wake up. Enjoy your new tech toy 😉

Thanks I only noticed one thing and that is when I set my color to 444, I get an occasional noticeable stutter during high motion. I first noticed it when playing GTA 5 driving fast and then noticed it when watching a 4k movie. I switched to RGB full color and it's not as noticeable but still there. It might just be my TV I saw somewhere on a review for my tv that it had stuttering during high motion. Or possibly fixable through editing the EDID further. I didn't have the stuttering on the original EDID but then again I was quite limited. I don't want to bother you anymore, I'm always open to fixing this but also okay with leaving it as is until maybe Nvidia or sharp fixes it.

Yes at 60hz....I'm also left scratching my head at this one.

The new cable I bought specifically states that it is 18gb/s on the package also on the back of the box it has a hologram QR code for hdmi premium certification that I was able to verify using the HDMi premium cable app. The old cable was a cheap Philips cable that only said high speed HDMI 1.4 cable with Ethernet. No mention of the speed anywhere. Even after googling it I was only able to find that it's been around since 2012 and that's why I assumed it was 10gb/s.

The best way to describe what is happening is it looks like a frame is skipping every 12-30 seconds but its only really noticeable on high motion scenes. I looked over the samsung EDID in CRU and I can't find anything that really stands out that would be causing this. :??:

Not sure if anyone is still looking at this anymore but everything is good now. Sharp just released a firmware update for my TV and like magic the stuttering is completely gone. I still need to use the Samsung EDID to get the correct functions but other than that everything is working great.

I am still watching and will continue to in case anything pops up. sorry was out at some Appts. today and was late responding. Regardless I am happy things are coming together for you on your 4K TV. I know I love mine and how it pains me to go to 1080P now after having nearly invisible pixels. I game on 55" at about 3-4 feet away...when I on 1080P at same distance I could easily see pixels. At 4K the only time they are visible is when AA is off or low and I can see the stairway effect. So many folks think AA is not useful at 4K...and on a 27 inch monitor at 2-4 feet they may be right but on a big screen, AA is still very nice to run. I HATE the jaggy stairway effect.

Sorry I didn't mean to be rude just thought maybe you forgot about this thread. Glad to hear you were still following. I really appreciate all your help. I hear you about 4k, there's no going back to 1080p. However since I'm only on a single 1070 and prefer ultra settings at 60fps, I'm left compromising at 1440p upscaled to 2160p by my TV. I've always been opposed to SLI because from what I've seen a majority of the issues experienced is usually on multi card setups. So I've always stuck with just going for one solid single card. Prices in Taiwan are much worse than the USA so for the price of an American 1080, I get a 1070 so that's why I went with the 1070, same goes for my 6600k. Hopefully next generation 4k 60fps will be more doable on a single card but until then it's 2160p for less demanding titles and 1440p for everything else. Sorry to rant here. Thanks for the help again. :)

Oh I didn't take it as rude at all...only a question and a fair on at that. Yeah i hear you on SLI though I do run it (2 GTX 1080s). It's tough but for the high end like 4k It is very useful but I also get how expensive stuff is for you. If I can ever help you out ordering something local to US and send it your way LMK. I have helped some on toms before, usually other military (I am X navy as you know). sometimes it's easier to get around tariffs if it's from a private party but with shipping it's not always worth it either. Anyways enjoy your system to the fullest!

Thanks for the offer. I have family in the states who can help me with that if prices get too bad. I'm also planning a trip to the states to visit around Christmas time so I might pick up some tech stuff. It's really only electronics that are so stupidly priced here, everything else is pretty cheap. Doesn't make much sense though since a lot of it is made here. Nothing like searching around only to find the best price for a 6600k to be 8,000+ Taiwan dollars about 70US more than it is on newegg.com and then opening the box to see it clearly printed "MADE IN TAIWAN". Same goes with the TV, only 500US including shipping (43 inch sharp UHDTV's ranging around 2,000 here) and it's made in China which is practically swimming distance from here (haha not really but it's close) but for some reason shipping it half way across the planet and back makes it cheaper.....oh well.
