HDMI to DVI question

What will give the least signal degradation? or just produce the best image quality?

A mini HDMI to DVI adapter with no wire separating the two... just one unit with one female and one male end?

or

a cable with one DVI male end and one HDMI male end?

Oh...i'm connecting a computer monitor with only VGA and DVI to a verizon fios tv receiver via HDMI

Likely the latter but between them the difference would be so little that any degradation would never be perceptively noticeable.

HDMI and DVI are the same. HDMI is just DVI with sound.
