I am trying to use an older headset that just has the single round connector. I think it's called an audio jack. The headset has a mic on it too. The headset works, I tested it on another system. When I plug into my gaming computer nothing happens. I tried plugging it into the line out to see if I could hear sound. I also used the splitter cable and put one into the mic and one into the line out. I've also tried every combination of ports on my PC (read, C/SUB, Mic, Line Out, Line In) it doesn't matter. Nothing ever happens so I don't know if Windows isn't seeing it, or something isn't configured right.

This is the only picture I found of it online:

That makes it look like it's a Microsoft headset so if that's true, I think it should work pretty easy.

After you plugged it in using the splitter cable, did you open up the Sound app (the one in Control Panel provides more information) to see if the app says the headphones are plugged in and set as the Default device? Or does the app still say the headphones are Unplugged? Are there ports on the front of the case you could check?

Thank God. I got it working. Thanks.

I had to use the adapter it came with that split it into 2 plugs. I tried that before, but it wasn't working. Once I found the sound app in the control panel, I was able to see each connector on the sound card and I just plugged them into each port one at a time until I saw them show up as connected with a green checkmark.

It said online not to remove/plug in these connectors with the power on but that's the only way I could figure it out because this sound card has too many connectors on it.

Even for this cheap set, the sound and mic both sounds really good so I can record my videos now.

Funny thing this headset output didn't use the same connector as my other speakers did. For some reason I can't hear sound on the headset when I plug into that port, but the Amazon speakers work fine in that port and the plugs look the same.

On my laptop the headset worked without the adapter. My laptop only has one audio jack and it worked both the mic and speakers. I'm assuming because of the stuff mentioned in the first post. The black rings on the single connector look different than the rings on the adapter.

Anyway, I can finally get my videos done. Thanks.
