heatsink fans?

I was just reading some heatsink\fan reviews and saw they run the stock fans. Is it possable to run one heatsink and the fan off a diffrent heater?

as long as you have physical clearance(dosen't hit power supply,capacitors arround socket,or block a dimm slot on motherboards that must use dimm 1) for the fan you can use just about any fan on any heatsink. the bigger and better the fan the better the cooling.
